I personally love oatmeal I have it everymoringin with a freshfruit and almond slices or peanut buttter =]
I always look forward to breakfast.
I dont see any problem with that, I eat oats every morning and a lot of the times again at night before bed. Oats are good for you, as long as you are eating a good balance overall then definately theres no problem
Oats rock and it was a staple as I lost my weight! It is also great to gain weight which is where I am now very veratile food and soooo good!
I put splenda and cinnamon and some syrup in mine twice a day two cups of oats!
Trying steel cut here soon.
You need 4 servings of whole grain a day, at least, so yes, it's a good snack. My only concern with eating the same thing twice a day, every day, is that you'll tire of it. If that happens, have a back up food combo that packs the same nutrition. Some people can eat the same thing over and over - I'm not one of them.
By the way, aren't you way underweight? I seem to remember from other posts you've made. If that's the case, then make sure you're getting all the calories you need to gain. If I'm wrong about that, I apologize.
I just had oats last night 8) I have them at least once a day; there's so much you can do with them! They're definitely a staple in my diet.
It is never good to eat carbs at night (especially before bed). Protein is the best nighttime snack (i.e. peanut butter, peanuts, almonds, sugar free yogurt, light cheese). You should establish a cut off time for intake of carbs.
im sorry claire i dont agre with that , and i dont think its good advice for someone trying to beat an ed . spek is desperately trying to get better and gain weight as far as i am concerned anything she wants to eat is grt and progress. its by getting fixated in these rules that get us where we are
Hmm I dont see anything wrong with eating carbs at night, she could make the oatmeal with milk to add extra protein anyhow and add some nuts or nut butter in to boost up the protein.

its because carbs are the body's main source of energy. Unless you planned to work out late in the evening, eating a lot of carbs at night is not a good idea and its best to stick to higher protein choices. Personally I wouldn't eat oatmeal at night because I used to do it all the time and then bam I put on 8 pounds (i eat very healthy, just ate too much and stop working out for a while). But since you are trying to GAIN, I think oatmeal or any type of carbs is good whenever. Wish it was the reverse for me. That be awesome I would eat brownies for every single meal *sigh*
Actually in the hospital they make you eat carbs/protein/fat before bed at nightime snack. That is regardless if you are under or overweight. It keeps bloodsugar level and aids in sleep. Oatmeal is very healthy but you also want other grains as well which if you are on weight gain you need a lot of.
