Is eating related to insomnia?

Does not eating properly have anything to do with insomnia? By not eating properly, I mean not getting enough calories and meeting the required amount for each food group.

Both under-eating and overeating can interfere with sleep. Hunger pangs disturb sleep but are easily corrected with a bedtime snack. High carbohydrate foods, such as milk, cereal and bread, promote falling and staying asleep. A large meal eaten within four hours of bedtime can cause discomfort while reclining to keep your awake. Caffeine and alcohol consumed late in the day can also interfere with sleep, as can drinking liquids close to bedtime if they keep you up with bathroom trips. Insomnia is associated with several vitamins and mineral deficiencies but deficiencies of that magnitude are rare and they are always accompanied by severe symptoms.
