Eating the same
Okay I am currently recovering from anorexia and trying to gain some weight. I eat the recommended amount of calories needed daily. My concern is that I eat pretty much the same thing everyday for breakfast and lunch. Its like I know those foods are healthy and contain the nutrients that I need so I stick with them. I just worried that this will leed to another eating disorder where I will only eat those foods. I have already restricted my diet before and am just getting over that way of thinking and I do not want to fall into the way of thinking again. Any help or advice.
Here is pretty much my meals:
Breakfast:
Big bowl of cereal and milk, apple w/ PB, Toast, OJ
Lunch:
Oatmeal, protein powder, fruit, usually some kind of nuts mixed in
My snacks and dinner are usually random or what every there is to cook.
just switch it up...i make sure that i don't eat the same carb for breakfast for two mornings in a row..ever. although i have oatmeal every morning, i alternate with bagels, french toast, waffles, and cereal. I pretty much do the same thing for lunch and dinner. i make sure not to eat the same thing for 2 consecutive days.
you should change your lunch, it seems kinda like an ED lunch, no offense. oatmeal is one of the "safe foods" usually and even though you's adding nuts it can really lead you to not fully recover because once again...its "safe"
Try eating foods that are more of a combination of different ingredients that you don't really know the calorie counts to and just eat a lot of it. it might break you out of this mind set. go to the service deli at your local grocery store and buy their premade foods, usually they have a great variety and no calorie counts, which is wonderful. purchase either lunch/dinner there daily and the other meal make it homemade. this will allow you to retain some control, add variety, and really kick ED in the a*s. Thank you so much. You are 100% correct. I think the reason why I eat oatmeal everyday is because I roughly know the amount of calories going into it. Even though I usually just scoop the amount out that I think Ill eat and then add things to it with no particular method of measure, I still have a rough guess on the calories. Oatmeal is my safe food. But it is soooo good.
I think Ill go to the deli on campus and order a cornbeef sandwhich. While extra thousand island dressing. Thanks for the advice chrissy.

I am exactly the same, I eat the same thing every single day. I also have an ED, though not anorexia. I made a thread about it and thought you might like to read the helpful comments I received, maybe they can be applied to you too?
