eating while staying in a hotel.... any suggestions?

Quote  |  Reply

Hi this is my first post. I'm staying in a hotel for four days and so far, my dieting efforts have been unsuccessful. I ordered a pizza just because I'm not familiar with the area and I was so beat from flying and driving all day. Any suggestions for some healthy food to eat while traveling?

This will probably sound a little obvious, but fruits like apples and bananas are easy to transport and will keep you full in between real meals.  Also, I have even brought string cheese with me on hotel trips and kept them in an ice bucket.  Good protein hit, better than pizza for you.  Do you have a fridge in your room?  Microwave?  Many hotels are offering these options more and more, so maybe seek out those establishments first.  Also, many room services offer salads on the menu.  Anyway, hope this helps.

Hey Tricia,

I travel at least 1x/mo to Kansas City for business and here's what I do. (Having a microwave/fridge in your room helps a LOT, but some hotels w/ store foods that need a refridge for you)

I bring along:

Fiber One bars, Apples, Bananas, oatmeal packets, 100 cal snack packs, zero cal salad dressing packets, pb/j sandwiches etc.

Transportable foods combined w/ room service ie: salads or steamed veggies and plain (non-buttery) protiens can make great options for you!

For bkfst I just order skim milk and fruit from room service w/ an extra bowl and I make my oatmeal in the room.

For snacks I bring the apples/bananas or fiber one bars to my meetings vs food that are offered at work functions.

For dinner I order salads w/ protein made w/o butter or oil, lots of fresh veggies, w/o cheese and I add my own dressing.

Good LUCK!

Susie

Zone Perfect bars, precooked and sliced grilled chicken breast (Tyson?), microwaved scrambled eggs (1 whole egg/2-3 egg whites).
