eating out tonight

Quote  |  Reply
Hi all!  I think I have been doing pretty well this week and would like to reward my self....not by splurging but just by going out to dinner.  Does anyone know some good resturants with some low cal food other than applebees.  I am in wichita ks so if it is a national chain maybe we would have them here.

Thanks Shanna

do you like japanese?  sushi and sashimi are good, if you don't use lots of soy sauce, and even teriyaki isn't too bad for you.
Get a steak; a 6oz steak, salad and baked potato are nuthin.

Get fat-free dressing, or put dressing on side and dip your fork in it.

Eat half the potato.

When ur done with the salad, drink all your water.  Then get another one with the steak.

about 600 calories, and I guarantee you won't be hungry after drinking 32oz of water.

This is what I do, anyway.
Olive Garden? Garden Fare

Capellini Pomodoro
644 cal 14fat
Chicken Giardino
560 cal 15fat
Linguine alla Marinara
551 cal 8fat
Shrimp Primavera
706 cal 18fat
i agree with big dude.

go to outback steakhouse and get a steak meal. yummmmmy!!
ooh I'm a big fan of outback, do there salmon and steamed veggies! the portion of salmon is kinda big , but it sounds like you deserve something good.. or the bbq chicken and steamed veggies!
Totally agree with Olive Garden. The salmon is fabulous, but cut it in half, it's way too big. Save it for lunch! also if you get the steamed veggies, make sure and tell them to omit the butter they pour on the top. Have fun!
oops..I meant OUTBACK!! HA!!
I like Olive Garden's minestrone soup -- only 100 cals a bowl! Also, Chili's has a 'guiltless grill' menu. The salmon and the chicken sandwich aren't too bad -- less than 500 cals each meal.

EDIT: and, free refills of soup. eat as much as you want!
I second Chili's!  They have blackbean burger to die for!!

Red Robin's is also pretty decent with Garden, Chicken and Salmon burgers and a side salad, just be sure to ask for none of that bistro sauce stuff.

I'd watch Outback; they're portions are LITERALLY enough for 3 people.  Australians are probalby laughing their butts off at us eating those portions;  they eat kangaroos and beetle abdomens, not 3lb steaks.

[i'm being sarcastic about Australian cuisine, but roo and beetles is a delicacy]
I went out last week-end and had the steak, veggies (asked them without butter) and salad with dressing on the side. Even enjoyed a glass of wine. enjoy your evening out.
I don't think it's necessarily where you go, its the decisions you make once you're there.  Get what you want, and it doesn't have to be exactly what's on the menu.  Even if it's not listed anywhere, you'd be surprised.  Instead of fries I like to order sides of steamed veggies.  Most anywhere can do that.  Order any sauces or dressings on the side.  It's so often these little devils are way over powering on any dish.  If you see something you like on the menu that is fried, ask if it can be grilled instead.  I also try to stay away from anything that is breaded.
