Eating waaay too much need to lose 16 lbs in 2 months..help me T_T
Hi there Ive been calorie counting for a few months now and have lost about 41 lbs on this and weight watchers. One thing that ive noticed is that when im calorie counting im tempted to go to extreams whith the math. In weight watchers it was just you eat this and if you dident lose weight too bad.
My goal weight was 184 by the time school started september 9th and im 200 now. Is it ok to eat 1000 calories and exersize about 500-900 off everyday at the gym. If i lift weight would i also be losing mussle mass.
Ive used to eat like 1200 calories befor school ended but after visiting my moms house and gaining 3 lbs ive developed bad eating habits and began to eat out of boardom. Im litteraly stuck in this house all day and am gonna go to the gym for a few hours to blow off some time. I havent lost a pound in like a month i normaly lose 6 - 8 lbs amonth. This is depressing me, losing weight is the only thing that makes me happy anymore.
Can someone give me advice on what to do to lose about 2 lbs a week...1.5 lbs minimum so dont bother with the whole dont worry about losing too quick story. What to do how many calories to work out what to eat any meal plans and ideas on what to eat without hurting my calorie budget with help a loit. Thanks i hope some one responds.
41lbs in 6 months has been 1.7lbs a week. So there's no 'only' about it, that's a very good rate of loss. Keep your expectations reasonable or you'll be constantly disappointed
If you're 200lbs you need a lot more than 1000-1300 cals a day to maintain your health and lose weight safely. Currently you're crash-dieting and that only ends up one way.... metabolism slows down, weight-loss stops, overeating starts, disillusionment sets in and you end up fatter than when you started. Yes it sucks......
If you're under 21 use this website to work out your total energy needs.... http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/bodycomp/bmiz2.html You would be classed as moderately to very active. Deduct no more than 700 cals from the number you get and go no lower than 1500 cals EVER in total.
Eat regularly, choose good quality wholefoods, lots of vegetables and other fresh foods and carry on being active. And, for now, have a day or two where you get your full energy needs... in your case a good 3000 cals....
Hahah Jane im convinced your calorie counts robot. Your like always the first to respond and you do it so mechanicaly with facts that no one can deny haha sry just thought id mention it. My maintnance is 2000 calories why should i eat 1000 calories over maintnance even if it is just for one day, that will undoo a whole day or two of work. Ill take your other advice after my week starts over on wensday wich is weigh in day. For now i have to undo a bad start to this week. Also why is it considerd crash dieting if im eating over 1200 a day andive been eating like this for 1 month or more can i really start over at 1500 and still lose weight? Im kinda scared to try.

Unlikely..... You're under 21, exercising for what sounds like an hour or so a day (moderate activity) and you're 200lbs. 2000 is keeping me at a stable weight.... over 40, 160lbs and lightly active.... so you need a lot, lot more than that. A deficit of more than 1000 cals is crash-dieting..... so if you really need 3000 cals and you're getting 1200-1500, you're crash-dieting
"....and that only ends up one way.... metabolism slows down, weight-loss stops, overeating starts, disillusionment sets in and you end up fatter than when you started." Exactly what you're experiencing, I think. I'm not a robot (that's the thanks you get...) but I see your story so often the answer just writes itself.
Did you actually bother to check the chart?http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/bodycomp/bmiz2.html
Awww the robot comment was a complement. And thanks for the info ill consider it but i really dont exersize everyday.
Hey sillybunny, if you already know better than all the calculators and the "robots" online, why are you asking for advice?
Do you want to hear that it`s okay to "eat 1000 and exercise 500-900 off everyday"?
Here you go: it`s okay. But you know what`s even more okay? Eating 800 and burning 1000. Or eating 200 and burning 700. The best though is eating nothing and lifting weights all day long to preserve your muscle mass. That`s a good goal to aim for.
LOL...You really are a silly bunny. But I get that you were saying IF you exercised every day....
To explain what gi_jane was saying, in another way...First of all NO ONE should eat fewer than 1200 calories per day. I know you THINK that eating fewer calories and exercising your butt off every day is the solution. But it's NOT. The reason for that is that when you eat too few calories, your body thinks it's starving...and it starts conserving your fat (in response to the "famine" that you've subjected it to). That's when the weight loss STOPS. It's NOT just a plateau. Your body will CONTINUE to hold onto the fat for as long as it can. This is how anorexia and exercise bulimia BEGIN.
If you read all the current research, it's been found that you lose MORE weight if you vary your calorie intake from day to day...effectively fooling your body. Since some days you're on a higher caloric intake, your body thinks it has access to plenty of food. So when you reduce your calories, it loses body fat. THAT'S why gi_jane said, "And, for now, have a day or two where you get your full energy needs..." She's recommending that you stagger your caloric intake, from low to high and back down to low again...etc.
IF you were to severely restrict your calories (1,000/day being such a restriction) you would lose muscle mass in addition to fat. That's why anorexic people look like they're literally skin and bone. Because THEY ARE.
And btw...I'm not a CC "robot", either. I've been on a diet since I was six years old; and I've learned more about how the body uses the energy you provide it (i.e., calories) in the past couple of years than I could have ever dreamed. Just passing it on...
p.s. 1.7 lbs./per week is GREAT progress, btw!
Wow i come back two days later and i get sarcasm and mean people :(. Yes i was asing IF i exersise everyday. i dont exersize everyday now but close to it more like 5 times a week. And ive never said i know more than anyone i dident say that jane was wrong i was just being worried. Im takiing most of her advice and i seriously thought the robot comment was cute and ment it in a nice way ass in she was very informed:( I dont want to waste another week on experimenting. Im trying to exersizing an extra 500 calories a day off and eating 1200-1400 but even then im not losing much weight so im kind of scared to bump my calories up to 1600 if that makes sence. I wanted to know more information from people. Like how to shift my calories so that i can actualy lose 2 lbs a week. if i wat 1600 i maintain and its really frustrating because technacaly im suposed to lose a lot more due to calorie count.
Oh and ily51 i hope you werebeing sarcastic, if so you dont need to be a smart ass.
