Eating after working out?

Quote  |  Reply

I try to eat small meals every few hours, and sometimes its hard to do with working out. So how long after working out should you wait to eat? I've heard it doesn't matter and I've heard you should wait at least an hour before eating....

the sooner you can, carbs & protein. but i have a hard time right after, so i just do a protein shake at the gym. then i eat a big dinner. its the best time to get nutrients into ya, after working out that is.

Ultimately, 30 mins but 1 hr is acceptable after working out.

If you are at a gym, grab a smoothie, get fruit ONLY, with protein added. Unless you want all that extra sugary syrup shiz they put it in it.

Yes, make sure your get a dose of protein and carbs right after your workout.  Your body needs to replentish its fuel and this post-workout meal with go right to the muscles you've worked.  I usually allow for about 300 calories right after exercise - a protein shake (170 calories, 35 grams protein) and a whole-grain bar (120 to 150 calories).

I have a bowl of popcorn and some chocolate ice cream usually an hour or soafter I work out. I keep this "meal" to around 500 calories, and as I usually work out at night, this salty, carby, fatty indulgence keeps me away from binging on far worse.

Anyway, I've been doing this for months now, and I am maintaining a comfortable weight and improving my fitness level every day.

Cheers!
