Ebay/Amazon/other Internet Shopping sites...Which one is most reliable?

Quote  |  Reply

I really want to join one of these websites where you can sell things. Any good stories about them? Happy customer, anyone?

I was thinking that it all comes down to Ebay and Amazon. Which one is better and why?

Amazon.  eBay rips you off too easily as a seller and charges you up the bum in sellers fees.

I have had good experiences with Amazon, but I had a bad one too. I ordered a rare cd that they said they would have available in 7 days to ship to me. 2 months after the order date, I cancelled the order and just went to a normal store.

I have had good and bad experiences with both. I think I trust amazon more though.

Did you guys have any trouble with buyind DVD's?

I live in Romania and I want to buy a serial show on DVD, 3 seasons. Any problems/extra fees/anything else a problem if the ship it to Romania? Of course, I also want to buy the Grey's Anatomy DVD's too.

I've used both websites for selling and if I had to choose between the two I would choose amazon...the beauty being that if your item doesn't sell then you don't pay anything.  I've also found their customer service to be brilliant if you do encounter a problem.

That said, some things are easier to sell on ebay...

I've never sold on Amazon but I buy regularly from both Amazon and the private sellers on the site. I find it easy to navigate and have never had a problem. I'd rather buy from Amazon, including the private sellers, than any other site or even brick & morter store. Good luck!

As far as buying DVDs -- make sure that you have the right format for Romania. Europe has a different format than the U.S.

I like Amazon a lot. They get a ton of my business-- especially around the holidays. It's so nice for shipping to out of state people.

I haven't tried eBay, but I use amazon a lot and so far I haven't had any bad experiences.

I haven't done any business with amazon, but I have sold and bought from ebay.  I've been a member for over 5 years.  They do charge a fee for selling on their website.  I know they charge a fee for putting your items up for bid regardless if you sell it or not.  They also charge a fee after you sell as well.  It's been sometime, but I think it's a percentage of what you sold your items for.  I usually get these fees back by setting a standard or flat shipping rate.  It balances out.

I've also bought and has had many great experiences too.  One thing though, be aware of imitations.  I did buy a couple of items that were thought to be authentic, but they really weren't.  Ebay has a pretty good system so you can really seek out those who are scammers.

Just make sure you read everything before buying or selling.  Good luck!!!

javagen3, what do you mean by format? I'm confused :|.

PAL or NTSC

Europe is PAL.  North America is NTSC.

What you need to know is if your DVD player plays Region 2 (PAL) DVDs you won't be able to play Region 1 DVDs (NTSC).

This is the product:

With ebay, Ive not had any bad luck buying or selling.

For a photo ad at 15 cents plus a small fraction of your sale price, its a crazy bargain and the auction format can really bump selling prices (something I keep in mind when bidding LOL - I usually try to find in advance an alternative fixed price item to give myself a cap on my bidding).
