ED- hair loss
I am so frustrated right now and I was hoping that someone might have some tips. Pre-ED I was around 165 ( I am 5'7") and had thick long hair. During my ED I dropped down to around 97, and more than half of my hair fell out. I have been in recovery for about 7 months now and gotten back up to 118 but my hair still hasn't even begun to come back in! I make sure to take a multi-vitamin and eat plenty of protein/iron. What am I doing wrong?

Sweet tooth, we have the same stats.
My heaviest was 132 and lowest was 94 at 5'7.
I am healthy now, and trying to not step on the scale, but what really helped my hair growth was thickening shampoo used for cancer patients. I know that you probably don't want to spend the money, but it helps with strengthening and hair growth. I am not sure how much it cost because I worked at the salon where we sold it so I got to use sample packets, but it is called Nioxin I believe and it worked for me in about a week or two. I could really tell the difference. I think the best thing though is to make sure that you are eating above your maintanence mark or close to it daily while adding in healthy fruits and veggies and whole grains. I also think that eating more good fats would help your hair. I know when I added almonds in daily it seemed to get shinnier. The multi-vitamin is great (try a women's kind) and make sure to add fish oils for omega fatty acids. My nutritionist put me on these!
I think you will notice a difference once you gain even a bit more weight and create a higher body fat percentage, because 118 is still way to small for a 5'7 female.
You could also check with a doctor about prenatal vitamins because these help with nail and hair strength. It takes a while for the hair to regrow and thicken, but with time, and nourishment it will!
