ED Weight Distribution
*may be triggering*
I NEED ADVICE!
I am a recovering anorexic who has been battling the disorder for over a year. I began at 125 pounds on average, and managed to get down to 95. Naturally, I felt terrible, and was constantly depressed, tired, and generally sick. I need to gain weight again; not necessarily a lot of weight ( I'm back up to 100 now), but get to 103-106, so I register on the BMI charts for my height and stop the amenorrhea. However, I have read that recovering anorexics who begin to gain weight again usually have a high body fat percentage, and the weight tends to be gained in the abdominal/trunk region: so basically, the subject's figure doesn't look the same as when they were healthy. I have no desire to become centrally obese, and I know that if my weight goes straight to the stomach, it may cause me to relapse badly. My old figure carried weight in the chest and hips, not abdomen. Is there any way I can gain weight while avoiding the stomach bulge? I exercise moderately on a regular basis and I am vegetarian, if it's any help. Tips would be appreciated, I need to beat this disorder!
your body also didnt ask to become "centrally caved in" either from anorexia.... it is part of recovery( imn there right now) and the best advice i have is to stay away from the mirror and keep meeting you calorie or meal plan goal.,.. if you dont get over and thru the phase youll only be there again another day battling the same problem...
ive decided ill take a pudgy belly for a lil while while my weight redistributes so that i will be able to have a family and babies one day... i want my health back, and i want ME back... once you are at a healthy weight for your height ask your doctors about weight training(not cardio but lifting, to increase metabolism and body structure)
one last thing- i can guarannteeeeeeeeeeeee any flaw you are seeing in the mirror NO ONE ELSE is seeing in you,,,, you have to fight your disordered thinking
I gained 1.5 inches in my waist in a month of eating 2500 calories a day. I think it's necessary...and a lot of it, especially in the beginning few weeks will just be from being full of food and having a distended stomach.
But i feel a lot better physically and mentally, so a few extra inches is worth that. And you'll probably be the only one to notice it anyway. And it supposedly goes away eventually.
Don't give up! You can totally beat it. ![]()
GOOD LUCK!
All my weight has been going to my stomach too, but I recently had the opportunity of meeting a girl who had recovered from anorexia who assured me that although the weight does go to your stomach first (I think it's pretty inevitable) it WILL redistribute properly. She looks great and definitely doesn't have any stomach bulge so I trust her :)! She recommended weight training as well. Good luck, I know how triggering it can be but I try and tell myself that if I continue restricting then start gaining again the stomach bulge will come back so its best to get this part over with ASAP!!
