Is edamame (soybeans) a vegetable or a protein or both?

I'm trying to make sure I get at least 5 servings of vegetables/fruits per day.
Answer
Dry beans and peas, including edamame, can be counted either as vegetables or as part of the meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs, and nuts group. Generally, individuals who regularly eat meat, poultry, and fish would count dry beans and peas in the vegetable group. One cup whole or mashed, cooked beans counts are one vegetable serving.
