Haha. I am Canadian, so I didnt think about thanksgiving. If you want you can weigh in on Thursday, it doesnt matter.
Basically, as long as you weigh in and post once a week. It will help people stay motivated and accountable.

I am brand new to CC. I joined the gym on Jan29 of this year. I am very commited and workout quite a bit. I started at 199lbs and I will tell you for sure on Friday, but 2 weeks ago I was at 174. I have gone from a size 16/18 to a size 10/12.
I am happy with my progression however while doing all this, I was NOT counting calories. I have decided to start because my goal weight is 143 and I have 30 pounds to go! I still have a "ponch" (or FUPA, as I like to call it). I was eating around 2000-2200 calories a day now that I figure it out. So hopefully, with my workouts AND keeping my calories below 1700, I will start losing again. I say that because it has started to slow WAY down.
I am looking for a kick in the pants too, and I can take it, so bring it on! I do not have a workout buddy or anyone else for motivation, so being here feels pretty good.
I am going shopping tonight to stock up on FRUIT and Veggies for those times (like right about now) that my 100 cal snack pack of thinsations don't cut it! LOL I read here quite a bit that the fruit and veggies are the way to go.
I am in Manitoba Canada. So any Canadians out there who know of a great snack "find", please share. Whether it's store bought or Starbucks (I love the Vivano protien shake-250 calories and its a meal in itself and keeps you FULL for a couple hours) I'll take all the suggestions you have.
And believe it or not, I am looking forward to weighing myself Friday morning. HAHA

I am 5'9 with a large frame so this should look good while not looking to thin.

Well it's weigh in time. I actually enjoyed it today. I last weighed myself a month ago at 174lbs.
Today I weighed myself at 170lbs! Just started CC less than a week ago. The past 2 days I've kept my calories around 1700. Will do it again today, but tomorrow being a Saturday, I may have a drink. . . Christmas due for work.

It looks like I gained a pound this week. I'm not worried though as I have gotten back into my weight lifting routine and think its just muscle. We'll see what next week brings.

Hey Igloogal. Our weights and goals are identical. My weight this week is 170 lbs and I am trying to get into the 140-145 range as well. Hopefully we can do this together!

That extra lbs may also be water weight if you had Thanksgiving dinner. Either way, work at it this week and i am sure you will see a change next week.
I see from your post before you have similar weight and goal as Igloogal and I! It would be great if all three of us made our goal together!

What do you do for a workout routine? I'm really curious about 'rest' days? Do you take them? How often? I do weights 3 times a week followed by 30 minutes of walk/run on the treadmill, and the other 4 days I run 3 1/2 miles with a 10 minute warm up on the bike. I think I might be over doing it. Sometimes I'm really sore. But I always feel pretty good when I go back the next day...
Eating. . . well that's a whole different story, lol.
I havent really had a rest day lately because I set a really high goal in the Nov Exercise Challenge (I did 1800 mins!).
My routine for the last few weeks have been
Tues/Thurs/Sat: 25 mins weight and 40 mins cardio
Mon/Wed/Fri: 60 mins cardio
Sun: 60 min walk (its kind of a rest day because its less intense)
I am a little concerned that I am over doing it. But this Sat and Sun I will not be able to work out because I will be moving out/moving home.
Once I get home and get a new routine going, I will prob have a rest day a week but try to get to my routine above.

Weekend went suprisingly well despite having my work Christmas Party on Saturday.
I thought about rest days. My legs are hurting. I will run again tomorrow, but on Wednesday I'll stick to walking for an hour with a good incline. Then I'll take Saturday as my rest day. (and cheat day) It will be very hard not to break into a run. That's all I do!!
Ever tried hot yoga? I'm thinking of going to a class this Friday night. Maybe I can sweat off these last 26 pounds! LOL
