Hi wearingthin! Please know that as alaina said, this site does not offer support of EDs themselves. Of course, if you are looking for buddies who are in recovery and want to encourage each other to get better, this is a good site for that. :)
If it appears as though you are looking for friends to help you maintain an ED, then I'm afraid the post would be subject to deletion. But, if you can come back and clarify for us and it turns our your intent is to find recovery friends, that would be within our guidelines.
For everyone's reference, the posting guidelines are:

your journal post is blantantly pro-ed and very triggering. this site is not meant to be used as an "ana support" site and if you're trying to use it as such i don't think you should be allowed an account here.
i think she should be able to post whatever she wants in her journal. don't read it if you don't like it. as for this post it seems just fine shes trying to get on track. you seem to be very easily triggered ewwwxroflzz. maybe you shouldn't go on diet site like this and read eating disordered people's journals if you know it will trigger you.

easily triggered? probably. but so are a bunch of other people. i don't know if you've ever had an ed, so you might not understand. and it's really not about what *I* think, it's about site rules.
i don't think this post is triggering. it's just asking for buddies to talk to while she's trying to eat healthy. yea she does use the words ana and mia like you might see on an pro-ed site. but that's probably where she is coming from. from a place like that to a place like this where she is trying to make new friends to get healthy with.
ummm my journal was BLANTANTLY PRO ED because i said i dont feel GOOD ENOUGH to be ana anymore? and sorry i said ana-- i mean, anorexia. its what i call it. . *shrugs* i didnt know it was offensive. plus you dont have to read my journal entries. its not like im shoving them in your face. you can go find pro ed stuff anywhere, and its easier to find it than my journals!
and plus, i dont know how to make them private.

it's not like i purposely went to read her journal knowing it was all about "oh god i'm so fat i ate a frickin piece of pizza, i had 500 cals today and i know i'm gonna gain" type of thing. people who are affected by this type of thing should not have to worry about running across it at a site like this, which might i say is just as much about healthy eating as it is dieting. and i'm not the only person who would get mad about something like this.
you shouldn't have to run across stuff like that. that is true because no one should have this disease. it would be nice. but obviously people do. i think if she is struggling with eating 500 calories she should be able to express that in her journal without being criticized. this is her journey toward health. in this public forum all she is asking for is support. buddies.
Don't call it Ana or Mia. It's degrading. It's anorexia and bulimia. They're life-destroying psychological illness', not people who can have their names shortened. Thanks.
If you really had an eating disorder, you wouldn't advertise on an internet forum for someone to count calories with. You wouldn't want to involve other people - you'd want the control left to you alone, you wouldn't want people butting in and you'd be ashamed of your eating disorder. Whether you'd want to recover is negligible - it gets to a point where you do, but at first you can't see yourself without an ED. You're still ashamed, whether you want to or not.
Stop attention seeking. Pro Eating Disorder websites are the worst thing that ever happened to the internet - they're trigger Eating Disorders in people, they keep people in Eating Disorders, they don't support, they hinder. Severely. I know from first hand experience. So don't come onto a website which promotes HEALTH not insanity and spread your views. Pro - ED is a disease in itself and needs to be stopped.
I'm gonna stop now. This has annoyed me.

I think its good to have support for recoverees trying to eat healthy. When I joined up I was mia pretty bad and I'd chew food and spit it out all the time. I weighed myself every morning and it would make or break my day. My first intentions to join were to track my calories which were extrememly low.
By coming on this site I realized what I was doing wasn't working and a fast metabolism from excersize and proper eating habbits would do the trick. I just had to get through the first hard week of upping my calories and not seeing any loss and weighing myself once a week. It was killer but after that I could see my body getting leaner and my stomach shrinking quicker and better than ever before when I was eating 300-500 calories a day and purging to get rid of any extra.
In a way joining up here really helped me, so welcome wearingthin and I hope joining helps you too.
^^^^ Maefilly, I know you don't mean it in a bad way, but you get a lot more empathy around here if you don't use the words "ana" or "mia" - they're words that put eating disorders in a familiar/comforting light. Eating disorders are a very serious matter, as I am sure you can appreciate, and so referring to them as their clinical names, "anorexia", "bulimia" and "EdNos" (plus COE etc) is how most of us approach them here.
Same goes for you wearingthin, if you approach your ED on here as an illness, as opposed to "ana" (which in general has connotations that you believe anorexia is a lifestyle instead of an illness) you will get a lot more support on here.
If, as your journal suggests, you are eating 500 calories a day, I would suggest trying to see a therapist instead of speaking to other people in recovery. When I was recovering from EDNOS, I had to cut off all contact with my best friend, because she suffers from anorexia, and whenever we spoke she would tell me she had only eaten 300 calories or so, which I found counter-productive to my recovery. She herself is now battling recovery too, and I know she is always triggered by seeing me, so I am out of contact with her again until she feels strong enough.
Just think, seriously, if you were in contact with someone on here and they told you they had only had 400 calories, how do you think that would make you feel? Most likely as if you were eating too much, am I right? And the same would apply in reverse - I doubt someone battling an ED wouldn't be motivated to eat less if they heard how little you were eating.
Good luck with everything
Ally
