Education is key!

I quit smoking almost 7 months ago.  It was soooo much easier than what I thought it would be.  I had never thought I could do it as I smoked all of my adult life.  I was one of those people that would not even enter a restaurant unless they allowed smoking.  Most of what kept me from quitting was fear of failure.

What I learned at www.whyquit.com was instrumental in my quit.  The first week or two really really sucked... but after that, it was a piece of cake, nothing like I imagined.

Check out the site and really understand that nicotine patches, gum etc will make it harder for you to quit rather than easier.  It's true.  The little bit of nicotine in the patch or gum keeps you addicted.  You never go thru complete withdrawal.  Doing this without an alternate method of ingesting nicotine means you are off the physcial dependence of nicotine within 72 hours.  The rest is just re-teaching your triggers.

I know I was skeptical at first too, but if you are trying to quit or you have already and need some extra support, check out the website above.  Joel's articles are all free.
