Eeeewww! Eating fast food after months of eating healthy!

Quote  |  Reply

Anyone else here try to eat at a fast food joint after several months of eating healthy?

I did! It was the most disgusting meal ever! I was rushing around all day yesterday at work and I forgot to bring my lunch with me so I decided to cheat and went to McDonald's. I got a cheeseburger small fries and a soda. I got half way through the cheeseburger and my stomach started making all kinds of weird noises! After 5 fries I actually started to feel the fatty grease sliding down my throat! Sorry real gross I know. So I threw out the burger and fries and figured I'd just finish the soda. Bad Idea! I felt so bloated and the high sugar and caffeine gave me a headache.

I can't believe I was putting that stuff in my body for so many years thinking it was OK as long as I ate the smaller meals. Well it serves me right! My fast food days are OVER!!

Well...

maybe a quesadilla from Taco Bell is OK. Hehehe!!

OMG  I have done that!!!  after a few months of eating healthy....then grabbing crap from a fast food place, it felt as though I could LITTERALLY chew the fat/grease!!!!  yucky

HOWEVER....... I'm a sucker for pizza!!! YUMMMY!!!  I don't have it all the time BUT I would if it was logical. mmmmmmmmmmmmm, just thinking of it makes me salivate  hehehe
Mmmm pizza. Know what you mean about burgers though. Gross
eeeew I hate fast food now not only do I think about all the fat and crap but also how nasty germy it is. I love pizza but I generally feel better about mom and pop resturants over chains any day. they seem to care about there food more...do you really love walmart that much or am I not getting computer sarcasm moodymama??

lol that's really funny. sadly i used to swear by fast food and used to eat it almost daily, which looking back, was ridiculous. i've only been dieting for less than a month, and seriously, i can't even think of what it would be like to eat a quarter pounder with cheese, medium fries, medium coke, and a hot fudge sundae with extra fudge. seriously. it seems so gross to me.

good to know it's not tempting to go back!

HEHEHE.... I suppose it's an inside joke with some other CCers.
One one of the first days at the JC I was going to I was running around and wanted to try the fries. They looked pretty damn good for cafeteria food. I felt so awful and sick afterwards, I just wanted to cry. Yuck.

that's why i haven't had mcdonalds in over a year. the only thing i can stand there is their asian salad w/grilled chicken
Yes, this has happened to me.

The way I look at it, it's like cleaning your house.  When you're living in a dirty house, you may not notice if you get more dirt, or dust, or clutter on the floor.  But once you clean it, each speck of dirt somebody brings in from outside really shows up, and looks terrible!  Essentially, after starting to eat healthy, fast food is the muddy boot prints on your clean kitchen floor!
I went to wendy's today...Cool..but I had the chilli and diet coke. The idea of a burguer is really unappealing!...
I still like fast food, as in fish and chips or takeaway pizza or chicken, I still eat it, I just watch portions, i still enjoy it, I had sausage and chips from the chippy last night, but i made sure i didn't eat the entire portion of chips.

I can't do fast food. It makes me sick to my stomach...If I find myself HAVING to go through the drive through of a McD's of BBKing, or even Wendy's....I go straight for a (side) salad, fruit and non-sweetned iced tea...

fast food doesn't even appeal to me anymore--I'm sure before I couldn't have imagined living life without a weekly McD's meal, but now, I couldn't care less! whereas when I first started trying to eat healthily, I felt totally tempted at fast-food joints to order something unhealthy, these days I'm totally fine having a salad. I do crave burgers at times, but not barely-edible, greased-up fast-food ones.. REAL $10 restaurant burgers!
I haven't had burgers in AGES, but just a week ago they were serving pizza for lunch, and I was starving, so I ate it... and it tasted good, but then I started to feel the grease and I felt nauseous for the rest of the day. :S
After eating healthy for so long, I would try to eat unhealthy and I had the same experience. The grease on the french fries felt so thick. I would get all gassy(sp?) and bloated from it. I felt incredibly sick.
I still eat fast food once in a while.  I just try to pick healthier options when I go there, most of the time.  Just get the grilled chicken next time, either in a salad or as a sandwich (with no mayo) and get a side salad with it, and it's not all that bad.
Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I just feel like what's the point of getting fast food if you're going to go with the "healthier option?"  If you're going to have a salad, why not make one fresh at home, with cheap produce and your own ingredients, instead of getting one of these pre-made, half-wilted fast food salads? (Sorry--I had a bad experience with a BK shrimp salad.)  The lighter options at fast food tend to be more expensive and not as enjoyable, so I just steer clear of fast food altogether and prepare my own food.  The only advantage I could see to fast food is just that--that it's fast.  If you don't have time, it'll do in a pinch.
I typically hate fast food and you couldn't pay me to eat a McDonald's burger.  And when I ate potato chips at a family picnic, the grease upset my stomach and made me feel gross.  However, I'll occasionally eat a burger from Sonic, usually discarding half of the bun.  For some reason, their burgers seem good and don't upset my stomach.  The best burger is one I grill at home, just takes a few minutes, and I use ground buffalo, which is leaner than chicken!  Yum.  Sometimes I'll skip the bread and top it with grilled peppers and onions.
I never did eat much fast food,  but I was a sucker for McDonalds French fries.  I hadn't eaten them for over a year, when I got some at the food court at the mall.  I ate 3 and threw them out.  How could I have ever eaten them?  They were not only greasy and too salty, but they had a strange "off" taste I never noticed before.  Yuck.

I've noticed that the greasy food does upset my stomach more now than it used to, but I still love it all the same.  *sigh*
Yeah, I've found that I really can't tolerate a high-fat meal anymore.  My husband was craving Five Guys burgers last weekend, and I had a small cheeseburger and half an order of fries.  My stomach was killing me the rest of the night!
