you probably could safely lose that much by December 2007-January 2008.

dont take my word for it though, ive never had that much to lose.
kisya, one thing you can do to ensure your success is to increase your activity level.

If you are currently sedentary, work to become lightly active.  If you are currently lightly active work to become moderately active.

I don't recommend extremes -- spending hours every day at the gym -- but there are things we can do to improve our activity level, such as taking the stairs instead of elevators, parking at the far end of the parking lot instead of at the door, walking as much as possible.  Just getting up and moving around helps.

Dr. Oz and many other health experts recommend walking 10,000 steps a day.  It's just plain good for the body.

good luck . . .

thanks manewell, the 10,000 steps sound like a good idea.
also, when you have that much to lose, it'll probably come off pretty quickly at the beginning (often more than 2 lbs per week). but once you get closer to your goal weight, it'll slow down A LOT.
Kisya, I started Jan 14th with about 80 lbs to lose, so i know how you feel!  Try not to fret the time so much.  We are both on a weight loss journey that is going to take time.  I'm trying to focus on enjoying the journey, not just anticipating the results.  So far I've lost 32 lbs, and I still have about 50 to go.  If I keep doing what I'm doing, keep up with my exercise, etc, I may lose that before this website says, but it doesn't matter to me how long it takes as long as I do it!  I am already benefitting from my plan.  I feel better.  I have more energy.  My knees are happier.  Focusing on your goal is admirable, but don't forget to appreciate the changes in your life every step of the way!
here's one to make you feel better.. i started with 184 pounds to lose to just get me into the high end of the "normal" weight range.. i've lost 110 of them.. i still have about 75 to go.. i started a year and 4 months ago.

don't worry about the time.. just try and be as healthy as you can be right now.. and if it takes a year or 2 years or 3 years.. as long as your on the right path does it really matter?
