um, when you crack open an egg - there is a yolk and that clear liquid: the clear liquid is the egg whites.

lol. so just buy regular eggs and don't use the yolks?

Really? I feel like an idiot! :O

I thought they were somthing special you buy at the market.

Hmm, do you have to any cooking w/ the egg whites, or do you just...eat it? o_o
they do have pourable egg whites like egg beaters so you don't have to go through the hassle of separating the egg and the yolk. its normally in the dairy section next to the eggs.

I know that a lot of people make egg white omelettes with them (less cholesterol than with the yolks).
However, if you don't want to deal with actual eggs and separating the egg whites, you might look in the dairy section for a product called Egg Beaters. They come in cartons like milk come in. They have original (like liquid eggs) and Egg White Egg Beaters. (closer to what you are referring to).

I hope that helps!

Yep, an egg white is just the white part of the egg :P. If you're taking it from a whole egg, you separate it from the yolk using the shell or a spoon...I just use my fingers. The whisk it a little bit and cook it like any other egg. Taking it from the whole egg can be quite wasteful though, so they do sell egg whites by the carton. I think they're near the eggs, but I'm not sure. Egg Beaters are also good, they're another egg product that comes in a carton but they have more vitamins than whites alone and they taste a little different (I actually like them better).

Well...I find mine at the supermarket, in little milk-like carton boxes, right beside normal eggs...

But you can also just crack an egg open and take the egg white...though I find tossing the yolk aside is a great loss.  I paid for it at the supermarket...  So I either bake dog cookies with them, or use them in a dessert for the rest of my family (who are not watching what they eat and ---lucky them--- are still under the average weight :( ahhh genes, genes...)

LOL!

That's sad.
Also, look for a product called Just Whites in the baking section of the supermarket.  It's powdered egg whites.  The advantage is, it keeps a long time.
"where do you get egg whites?"

lol blonde moment hehe =P

I just separate the egg white from the yolk - it is definately cheaper that way.  You can make egg white omelettes - throw some veggies in it - spinach, mushrooms, green peppers, onions - and also some Mrs. Dash for additional flavoring.

Or you can make pancakes - egg whites - 4-5, 1/2 c oatmeal (not the instant), 1/2 scoop protein powder and if you want 2 tblsp sugar free syrup over it.

4-5 egg whites, 1/2 c oatmeal and 1 diced apple, 1 packet of splenda  - this works also.

So you're getting decent protein, little fat and low carbs and this should get you through to the next meal.

Ive noticed you can buy them in a milk type container in the freezer section, near the frozen desserts and pastry.

I havent been able to buy egg imitation here in Australia, you know how some sites say only 5-7 eggs a week and then use the fake egg stuff. I cant find any here, only powder stuff which I can buy online but you cant make omlettes or scrambled eggs with it

^_^
this question will go down on the list of cc's most blond moment questions. ;)
~Sorry for being stupid~ But thanks for your info guys ^_^
haha nina, I agree.

It's okay, everyone has less than perfect moments.
hi id just like to add that i cant find them any where in england so i dont think they have reached us here lol shame i used to love those egg beaters.

actually.. i dont think is a good idea to buy eggs and just throw the yolks.. its a waste of eggs..  to lean out.. you need mostly egg whites with 2 or 3 yolks.. u could buy a huge tub of egg whites at this website  www.lanaseggwhites.com   theres 165 egg whites per tub.. you could mix them with anything.. protein shakes, egg yolks, orange juice,etc..  and theres alot of ''sucess stories'' about people taking the egg whites check it out.. egg whites is the #1 food if you wana cut up ( low body fat)

Walmart supercenter carries Allwhite Eggwhites for under 4 bucks a big carton. That is the best price I have seen and every time I go there I buy at least 4 of them.

Funny peeps in here huh?  Yes, they are an awesome source of protein, I use that in my protein shakes instead of water.  I use one scoop of whey protein with about 10 ounces of egg whites.  Gives me about 65 grams of protein.  Egg whites can be found in supermarkets everywhere in the same section you buys eggs.  The ones I have found in my local market were called All Whites.  You can also purchase online from companies such as Egg Whites International and Lanas Egg Whites, although I have found them to be more expensive than the market which makes no sense as we also have to pay shipping and wait for about a week for them.  Anway, good luck at whatever it is your trying to do.

Ya know, if you don't cook much or aren't around cooks (especially bakers), I can see why you wouldn't know what egg whites are.

But now that you know, it does make you laugh, doesn't it?  You are being a great sport.
