Who else hates Thanksgiving food?
I've never been a fan of stuffing, mashed potatoes w/ gravy, that cranberry crap, green bean casserol aka vomit in a dish, pumpkin pie?! Ew.
Anyone else just dislike the holiday all together because of the traditional food you have to eat at your spouses or families houses? I feel so bad passing up something people look SO forward to every year.
We usually have Bob Evan's roles with sliced deli meat. >.> Maybe green bean cassorolle because my mom and sis like it. I agree with the dislike.
There was the 1 year we ordered pizza... >.>
Clearly you are both un-American and should be banished to Uruguay.

This will change your mind on Thanksgiving foods:
Best Pumpkin Bread Recipe Ever
1 3/4 cup flour
1/4 tsp (t) baking powder
1 t soda
1 1/2 c sugar
1/2 t salt
1/2 t cloves
1/2 t nutmeg
1 t cinnamon
1/2+ c walnuts
2 eggs beaten
1/2 c oil
1 c pumpkin
1/3 c water
Grease pan (9x5x3) Dust w/ flour.
Sift dry ingredients
Add nuts, mix.
Add oil, pumpkin, water, blend well
Add eggs and mix just to moisten
Spread into pans
Bake 350 degrees, about 1 hr. Toothpick test.
Oh, and:
Best Chocolate Pie Recipe Ever
(This is a Betty Crocker recipe with one key difference - the original says 1 6oz bag of chocolate chips - my mom as a girl mis-read it and though it was 16oz bag of chocolate chips... so much better!)
First, the crust, a pie shell for a one-crust pie:
Combine 1 1/3 c flour, 1 tsp salt
Add all at once: 1/3 c salad oil (eg, canola) and 3 Tb milk
Mix with a fork till it hold into a ball. If it stays crumbly, add milk and/or oil until it holds together. Roll out between 2 sheets of wax paper. Peel off the top layer of paper, invert the crust over the pie plate, and peel off the other was paper layer. Don't worry if it lands in pieces. Just mash the pieces together with your fingers till it resembles a crust.
Bake for 8 to 10 min at 450 degrees, till colored. Allow it to cool somewhere.
Now, the innards:
Melt together in a double-boiler (or in a bowl sitting over boiling water):
16 oz choc bits (Nestle), 2 Tb sugar, 4 Tb milk
Let that cool.
Beat in, one yolk at a time, 4 egg yolks, 1 tsp vanilla
Beat till stiff, 4 egg whites.
Fold whites into choc mixture as gently as possible. If the choc mixture is way too tough to imaging the folding, add a little milk to it. Scoop whole choc-eggy mix into the cooled pie shell and chill till needed (generally needs a couple of hours).
I dont mind turkey lunch meat... but whole bird turkey, eh... i dont eat mashed potatoes, never eat gravy, dont like green beans, bread stuffing/cornbread stuffing - blah, cranberries i can totally pass, i dont eat rolls, I am not a fan of sweet potatoes, i dont eat corn, nor peas.
I like pumpkin pie like... a slice a year... same with pecan pie, apple... eh...
I am tired of making this meal every year. This eyar I ordered this: http://angelfoodministries.com/menu_0911en2.a sp
middle of page shows the thanksgiving meal.
Everyone else in my house/family love it all.... blah
I would be so much happier with lasagna, some pizza, garlic breadsticks and a chocolate cream pie :D
I can not relate to this at all. I LOVE Thanksgiving dinner and look forward to it every year. I'm not a big fan of the candied yams w/ marshmallows dish but there's always so much other stuff to choose from, that's not a problem. Turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes & gravy, rolls, pecan pie, pumpkin pie, chocolate pie. Less than 3 weeks and counting!! ![]()
Thanksgiving is awesome. Look forward to the food specifically every year.

This! Including the part about the Yams.
im salivating at the words stuffing, thanksgiving...
i liked that, does not compute!!! haha
I'm sorry, but whoever thought that marshmallows on yams was a good idea should have been drug out into the street and shot.
Sweet potatoes, brown sugar, cinnamon, butter...and perhaps a couple of other spices...now that's Heaven.

I'm with you two!
I can see where the turkey wouldn't be all that excitement worthy, but the sides!
*drools*
Squash dinner rolls
Cranberry pomegranate dressing
Stuffing
Maple glazed yams with dried cranberries
Garlic mashed potatoes
Apple pie
Pumpkin pie
...
I would prefer the green bean casserole to not feature all that canned crap, but it is tasty.
woah woah woah wasnt this for those who dont like thanksgiving foods? :D

Don't really agree, but I will say that candied pecans and butter is much better.
For the OP: It appears you are specifically talking about traditional Thanksgiving food, but I'll point out that Thanksgiving food is whatever you want it to be, because Thanksgiving is not supposed to be about the food. One of the best Thanksgivings I ever experienced as a kid was when my mom didn't have time to do traditional stuff because of her work schedule, and we ate Thanskgiving dinner at Waffle House - and it was awesome! (I didn't have to help clean up...heh heh)
That being said, one of the better family Thanksgiving dinners my husband and I ever went to had Mostaccoli, Lasagna, toasted ravioli, lots of veggies, fantastic cheese garlic foccacia, and pumpkin creme cannoli's. That was really cool too.

Anyone who says they don't like thanksgiving food in a public forum is clearly crying out for help.
I've never liked stuffing. It's disgusting, it's gross, it's cruel to even bring that crap to a table with so much other yummy stuff.
Seeing as your list of Thanksgiving foods you don't like covers just about every food group imaginable...
what DO you like to eat?
I'm with the others. This does not compute.
gee, never heard of someone not liking pumpkin pie. I think it's the best stuff EVAR.
I used to love candied yams whem I was 6/7, but now I think they're the most nastiest things ever. SO much butter and sugar....ugh it makes my stomach sick. D: I'm a huge fan of mashed potatoes and all the other stuff though... except for cranberry sauce.
