Who else is in love with Guillermo del Toro?
His films are visually stunning. I think he has a weird obsession with dead children but it makes for great cinema.
His must see films are Pan's Labyrinth and The Devil's Backbone. He produced The Orphanage which goes right along with the other two films. Terribly sad but great filmaking.
I Adore Guillermo del Toro!
Ever since I was a little kid, I've always been delighted to watch movies that put children into almost nightmare situations. When I watched Pan's Labyrinth a few years ago, it blew my mind. I felt as though I were at the age of 8 watching Labyrinth for the first time. I loved it. It was like Alice in Wonderland had grown up into a tale that could evoke excitement and terror in me.
As for The Orphanage... pure perfection. It terrified me. It kept me up until 3 a.m. It disturbed me. If it weren't for the very ending, I probably wouldn't have been able to sleep. I love thrillers, and ones that I could have never predicted. The Orphanage was certainly that.
I still haven't watched any of the Hellboy movies, but now I just might.
I've heard that he may possibly be directing The Hobbit. I'm a huge fan of The Lord of The Rings, and I'm interested to see how it will work out.
I heard that he might direct The Hobbit! It is my favorite childhood book! I'm sure his version of The Shire will outshine Jackson's. Though I must admit that while sitting in the theater watching Fellowship I started crying at the beginning when Frodo was under the tree waiting for Gandolf. My husband thought I was nutty until I forced him to read the books.
That little Hobbit was in for a hell of a ride.![]()
