Who else is sick?!

Quote  |  Reply

I'm sick... again. Got strep three weeks ago and was stuck in bed for 24 hours straight. I felt miserable for days and now I'm sick again! I had a fever of 101.7 and I've been in bed for 7 hours already... here we go again. I have no idea what I've got but I've been coughing and wheezing. Yuck.

Anybody else out there sick too? The last time I was sick it kept me out of the gym for 4-5 days. I'm used to working out for more than an hour 5-6 days a week, and I finally got back on track and now here I am again. Frown But with a fever and the chills I just can't make myself go. I was actually feeling great until I DID work out yesterday... strange. And then there's the battle of trying to get calories in when the last thing I wanna do is eat. But I think with the fever I probably need them even more.

So who's in the same boat?! I teach first grade so there's always something going around... I'll be happy when it's spring again!! Cool

I am so with ya sister! Get this! I had the stomach flu last week and now, ONE week later it has morphed into the cold-like symptom flu!!! Never in my life have I been so upset! I don't know how this is even possible! I hear ya on the whole working out thing, I'm kind of a fiend myself. Usually doing 1-2 hours vigorous cardio a day, it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE for me to not work out even when i feel terrible! Unless I'm completely bed ridden and seeing stars, you can bet ill be at the gym that day! (well i know im dumb for doing it bc it makes me stay sick longer) so here i am today (only wen to pilates and ran a teeny tiny bit after (like 1.5 miles) and made myself walk to class instead of driving. I hope you feel better soon and just know someone feels your pain! I hate being sick because I don't know how to sit still! ah! lol

Don't even try to exercise when you're ill it only prolongs the pain, straining inflamed joints and working muscles that have no fuel will not get you anywhere. Keeping your temperature high and getting well takes a lot of energy so that's where all the food you do eat is going. Most people lose weight when they get the flu (and a lot of weight when they get stomach flu!)

Just relax, don't force your self to eat your normal food - chicken soup and fruit really are better and keep your fluids up. The less you do the sooner you'll be right on track again.

Me too, me too!  I went swimming three times.  The first time was great.  The second time, I perforated my eardrum from going off a diving board and found out that I had an ear infection from the first time. The day after I went swimming the third time I got the flu, and I'm still in recovery.

I really, really want to go jogging and/or rollerskating, but I know that I'm sick precisely because I was pushing myself so hard before.  I've also lost a lot of water weight, and I'm not looking forward to seeing it come back.

I was sick last week so I didn't work out, I couldn't breathe let alone try to breathe while burning calories!  I couldn't eat either, I didn't have an appetite because I couldn't taste anything.  I'm starting to recover now but this week is my TTOM also so no scale figure is accurate!!!!

It's odd, I haven't worked out since last week and my muscles are sore.  I don't know what's going on.

me :( i have a bad cold. this weekend i had a sore throat but currently on antibiotics for it.... but this cold is just killing me! argh.

Me too :( Although, I'm near the end of it. I've been sick since last Wednesday... kept me out of the gym Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. I'm training for a half marathon, so it's been hard for me to miss my runs, but I knew I needed to rest if I want to be able to train my best. Friday and Saturday I spent my entire day in bed... no fun!

I'm not alone!  I went to the doctor yesterday afternoon ("It's a virus, but it's not the flu... wait til your fever is broken for 24 hours... lots of rest... blah....")  But the worst part is that they weigh you in!  Uh, I've only weighed once in like eight weeks... I don't really WANT to know because seeing those teeeeeny little fluctuations would drive me crazy.  So while standing there on a scale (that isn't the one I've been weighing on... in nike shox... and a hoodie... and jeans) I contemplated how much my clothes must weight and looked out the window so the nurse could just do her thing and I wouldn't have to look at it.  And of COURSE then she said it out LOUD so I knew I went up .8 lb since the last time I weighed.  Frustrating!  (Small rant.  Yell)

I'm going back to work today after two days and my fever has finally been gone for 24 hours, so I'm hoping that all is well and I might finally make it to the gym tonight.  If I can work out today, tomorrow and Friday I'll still have five days this week.  Could be worse.  Everybody hang in there!!
