So, who else does sports and doesn't really "work out" much?

I am definitely one of those people who does sports and doesn't really "workout" just for the sake of . . . working out. I could not just go to the gym and get on cardio machines/ lift weights. Fortunately for me, I love sports, I love running, and I love sweating! I know that's why I'm getting nowhere with setting up a weight training program, for example--to me, that would be more about the way I look (more muscle burns more fat) and less about the way I perform (yes, I know it would improve my performance, but it bores me and endurance is more important in my sports and I'm not a world class competitor who has time to work on everything!!)

SO, who else out there does sports and considers their sports their "workout" or "works out" mostly to supplement their sports addiction? What are your sports?

My sports (at this time in my life) are soccer, hiking, trail running, xcountry skiing. I want to try snow-shoeing, too.  In the winter, I "work out" in a gym, running on an indoor track, when it is too dark to go hiking/trail running after work or there isn't enough snow to ski, and I pretty much hate it but it keeps me in decent shape for soccer . . .

(FYI: I know that working out is good for you for lots of reasons; I'm just wondering who else out there just doesn't enjoy it!)

I swim laps instead of going to the gym. I'll go to the gym and run the treadmill or the elliptical if I can't swim that day, but usually my hate for running is what motivates me to get in the pool.

I play golf, but as much as i love it, i don't consider it "exercise".  I play pickup basketball about every other day.  I recently took up boxing and I spar about once a week (hoping to do it more when I get better).

I used to rely solely on sports, but I was putting on pounds.  Granted, I wasn't dieting.  I started working out to up my performance level.  Glad I did, too.

It's definitely helped in all aspects.

I really don't work out just to work out.  Cycling is my number one sport and my off season "work outs" are designed to make me a better in season cyclist.  I also like tennis, swimming, skiing, skating, hiking, etc.  I haven't been in a gym in years.

i swim and play volleyball one of the two almost all year round, but i lift weights to get stronger, i started that last year, and it really has improved my perfomances, i jump a lot higher and hit a lot harder for volleyball, and my times for swimming have dropped A LOT so i guess i have motivation behind it. and usually i run inbetween seasons because i know i need to stay in shape

I've never enjoyed going to the gym and still don't.. I enjoy being outdoors and anything that gets me outside is it! mountain biking (love it!), softball, swimming (indoors now but swimming in the ocean rocks!), snorkeling, hiking, surfing and just recently running. I also like lifting free weights at home... but that would be considered a workout... Innocent

i'm a rower (crew) (4-5 days a week)

but my all time favorite exercise;

BIKING.
