Embarrasing and scary....girl issue.

Quote  |  Reply

Ok....I never thought I would be posting about a female issue.  I am just wondering if this is something I should be really worried about or if anyone else has had anything similar happen.   Basically deciding if I can wait 2 months for the dr or if I need to take myself to urgent care.

Every time I do any kind of physical activity I start bleeding.....a lot.  Last night I went for a 2 mile walk.  When I got back I went to the bathroom and everything was fine.  Went into the living room and was talking to my friend for about 30 minutes.  When I got up there was a pool of blood on the couch and my pants were soaked in blood almost to the knees.  There were several large clots.  I bled like this for the rest of the night.  New pad every half hour.  The last time this happened was last week after a 2 hour walk in the mall.  That time I bled like that for 3 days, and it came on just as suddenly.  Looked down and I was soaked to the knees.

This is a pretty gross post, I know.  But I am scared, and just trying to judge how serious this could be.  Thank you for any input.

You should see a doc ASAP. That sounds like it could be really serious and you do not want to take any chances.

losing that much blood is very scary and dangerous for your body.  you should go immediately to a doctor and find out what is causing it.  please.

oh my gosh that sounds terrifying. and definitely not typical. that must be really scary and kind of a burden. im really sorry i don't know what that could possibly be, but you need to see a doctor or OBGYN or someone!

ugh im so sorry! i hope this gets better! :)

absolutely go see a doctor right now. in fact, if possible, post back and let people know you're ok, that is really really scary.

Yes, that sort of bleeding is not normal. Seek immediate medical attention - this cannot wait in any way. Go to the emergency room now

Please get yourself to the urgent care. I don't want to scare you, but I'm scared for you just reading your post. What you've described is not normal and could be something minor or something more serious. In either case, it requires verification ASAP.

I used to work at a nurse triage call line and our general rule of thumb was that if a woman was using one pad more than every hour than she needs to go to the ER ASAP. I hope you went and I hope everything turns out ok!

Definitely go to the ER!  Even though you might not want to make a big deal about it, its safer to make a bigger deal out of it - I know I once had an abnormal situation (not about bleeding though) that I got used to and pretty much dealt with on my own for a while and that was not the right thing to do! When I finally got doctor's help it was just barely in time.  Go to a doctor and find out what's going on - You'll feel much safer afterwards.

Just wanted to update anyone who might be worrying.  I called my dr this morning.  He said that I need to get in there at 7am tommorow, he is comming in early to see me.  He said if I get dizzy or it gets any worse to go directly to the ER.  I also get to stay off my feet for the rest of the night.

Thanks eveyrone.  I wasnt sure if this was just something that happened when someone starts working out at this weight, or if it was something to be concerned about.  Now I know it is something to worry about.   I will post again if I find out anything tommorow morning.

whew, im glad to see you're getting some help. this must be absolutely terrifying. i know i wouldn't know what to do either! please keep us updated!

OMG, that is so scary!!  I'm so glad you're getting some help today...lots of positive thoughts are being sent your way.  Keep us updated!

Hope your appointment went well, please update us and let us know how you are doing!! Laughing

please keep us updated jennmary! we wanna know you are ok!

Update please.... How are you~?

Went to the dr this morning.  She didnt do much.  she just made sure all of my vitals were stable, and is doing a rush referal to a  specialist.  She told me to do as little physical activity as possible until I see this other dr.

My boss sounded pretty mad when I called to tell her I would be out for the rest of the day.  But I just needed a day to rest. Thank you guys so much for your concern.  I will keep you posted as things develop.

Jennmary001, I hope you find the news is good when you see the specialist.  You did right by going to the doctor.  I said a prayer and and sending you positive thoughts.

Glad to hear you went to the doc...I used to have this problem as well.  A friend recommended an endometrial ablation (forgive my spelling).  It basically scrapes your uterus so that you have much lighter periods.  If youre going to have children, it's not recommended.  I had it done as an outpatient...very simple procedure and it changed my entire life!  I no longer have any of these issues and my periods are only 2 days...and it doesnt affect your hormones or any of that stuff.

Went to the specialist today.   He is 99% sure it isnt cancer or anything like that.  Great news.

He said that losing weight is a stressor on your body....even if you are doing it in a healthy way.   Plus I had a death in the family and issues at work.  So my body has been through a little roller coaster lately.  He said that based on my history he thinks I stopped ovulating when I hit got up to about 280.  So the lining in my uterus just kept getting thicker.  It didnt occur to me that the lighter irregular periods the last few months were something to be worried about.   So now I am lighter than I was when the ovulation stopped.   So he put me on a medication for 10 days that is going to fake an ovulation....then I will have a massive period for about a week.   Then the hope is that my body will take over and everything will go back to normal.  He said this is like the non surgical alternative to a D&C.   On the plus side he was really great.  He was super excited about my weight loss and actually chose this route rather than birth control pills because he didnt want to make losing weight any harder.

So I am well.  Just have to go in for some blood work to make sure that nothing else is going on with the thyroid and that I am not horribly anemic.  :)

Glad everything is okay :] and thanks for posting back for the rest of us.

what a relief its nothing long-term! its really good to hear you're doing okay. :)
