This is embarrassing.
This is 100% serious so don't think it's a joke. I think that I might have an addiction to bean & cheese burritos from Rubio's. I crave them all the time and sometimes I think about them and even dream about them. I haven't ever felt this way about another food. I eat them maybe about once or twice a week and I always fit them into my calorie range and never overeat due to my burrito addiction.
Can someone help me figure out if this is just a normal favorite food or if it could be more serious? Again, this is 100% serious and I'm really embarrassed about it. Everyone teases me about my burrito obsession, so I'm starting to think that if others notice it, it may be more than just a love for a certain food.. And no, I don't and never have binge(d) on burritos. I always fit them into my calorie range and I only eat one.
What is so wrong about that. I got tired of the food at work and sometimes I will make my own creations. When we have old chili (very thick) I put some on a pita with some shredded cheese and wrp it up. I love it and only have it about once or twice a week.
maybe there is a nutrient in the burrito that you don't get much of from other palces so your body is asking for it. I had that happen one time when I accidentally switched to uniodized salt. I was craving peanut butter so bad. Turned out it was the only thing in the house with iodized salt in it. Cravings quieted down after I switched back to iodized salt.
Possibly.. I know beans have protein in them and I'm a vegetarian and can't afford to make a lot of tofu products, though I try to have a protein item 2 times a day, sometimes it doesn't always happen that way =/
I don't see anything wrong with that. Just a favorite food of yours. Seems to me that your friends know it is your fave and nothing else, ya know?... I love bean and cheese burritos and always make my own though I do envy you for having a Rubio's in your area! :)
Since protein intake is a bit hard for you to achieve and I did have a hard time trying to get in all my protein as well when I first started but since I found this list, it has not been such a conscious effort. Hope this helps ya!

Aw, don't be embarrassed! I think your friends are just teasing you as a joke, really. Everyone always makes jokes because I seriously ALWAYS have an apple in my purse and whip it out and random times and chow. I always get apple jokes. (and if it makes you feel any better, i totally went through the same thing with peanut butter a while back...mmmm)
also: rubio's is a salon here...i've never heard of the restaurant! lol
The burritos are probably filling some kind of dietary gap ..... could be nutrition or it could simply be something like salt or fat. Flavour is enough to stimulate cravings. Cheese is a very more-ish type of food because it has that combination of lots of salt, satisfying fat and what the Japanese call 'umami'... that mouth-watering quality that certain savoury foods have like meat stock & yeast extract. And I expect the whole thing comes in a tasty, savoury sauce? Chilli peppers? Tomatoes? There are probably flavour enhancers going on... yet more salt, maybe some msg.... this is why fast food succeeds.
Personally, I'd walk over hot coals for a plate of freshly cooked fish and chips with salt and vinegar!
Have a look at your regular vegetarian food choices - would you say they are exciting and flavoursome or bland and dull? Have you ever tried to recreate a bean burrito at home? Did it taste the same? If your answer is that your regular foods are a bit on the boring/repetitive/bland side, I'd start there.... Enliven your palate.
I think I kinda know what you mean. I feel the same way about the pizza from a local pizza shop. I crave their plain pizza constantly. I always thought it was something about the seasonings in their tomato sauce, the yummy cheese (cheese is ALWAYS yummy), and the little bit of grease.
For me, I think it's a mental craving, rather than anything I'm lacking in my regular diet. My analysis is always an A or A- and my percentages are always on target. I think I'm just obsessed with the taste of it, and like a greedy bastard, I want it constantly.
I crave it all the time. I want it every day. Literally, every day, when I'm deciding what I want for dinner, it's always Mama's Pizza. Of course, I don't have it every day, that would be ridiculous, but I WANT it every day. So, sorry I'm no help, but I can definitely understand why you're embarrassed and worried about it. I feel the same.
My favorite burrito in the whole world is the bean and cheese from Rubio's. When I was working and someone was going to Rubio's, they didn't even have to ask me what I wanted; they just KNEW. Ha! I could very easily eat those at least two-three times a week. As brtaylor said above, I constantly crave a good cheese pizza. Before I started this diet, I was eating it probably three times a week, and NOT just a couple of slices. I just love the taste, so for me I guess it's not anything lacking in my diet. I just LOVE the taste. I also love Stouffer's creamed chipped beef. I've been know to eat it for dinner four days in a row. Again, I just love the taste. Personally, I think it's normal to have a favorite food. But, that's just MY opinion.
Eating a bean & cheese burrito from Rubio's is like going to heaven without dying. I have tried to make them at home and they taste gross and end up being more calories than the kids' meal is at Rubio's.. go figure right?
I eat meat very very rarely and I have days I randomly crave a cheeseburger from McDs. So it could be possible protein issue. Try adding some high protein veggies to your meals and see what happens.
Bean and burrito sounds yummy and calorific. :o
Aww I don't think it's weird or strange...I have the same fantasy over the apple fritters at my local bakery...I'm dead serious...I daydream about those dang things! lol ! I know their like probably one of the "Worst Foods in the World!" lol Fried sweetened dough with sugar glaze over them. I haven't had one since I joined CC in June, but promised myself when I hit goal & did maintenance for a while that I'd treat myself........drool, drool!
I agree that it most likely means your body is craving something. I think it is really important to listen to what your body is telling you. I notice that if I am craving a hamburger or something like that, I will think back to what I ate for the week and usually find I did not have enough protein. If I go home drive right past the fast food places and make myself something protein filled, the cravings and thoughts of McDonalds are gone shortly after. Take a look at your diet and see if you are missing anything crucial that you would get from the burritos and try adding more of that to your diet and see if the cravings stop.
