If you are an EMPLOYER, Please read this.
Okay, I don't know how "rare" my case is, but I have no birth certificate, no SIN, no anything really. I have been trying for quite a while to get it, and I have to go see MLA John Les, it's not easy. We tried to get an appointment and the secretary is like "well how do you expect him to help you" I don't know, HELP ME? Maybe Tell me a way to get my ID so I can get a Job! My License! LEAVE THE COUNTRY!
Annnnyways, to employers, I was wondering, would you ever hire someone without an SIN, but working on getting one. I'm curious, I was told you can't get a job without an SIN unless it was "under the table". I'm 17 and I work hard!, I just need the money.

What is SIN? Social Security Number (usually abreviated as SSN)
Have you applied for a Social Security Number? We used to record the date applied for in the records and allowed a certain period of time for the number to be provided, but that was before the requirement to fill out the I-9 immigration paperwork.

First go to your local employment office. You can get a birth certificate form there. You have to fill it out and get it signed by a family doctor. Then you either mail it with a check or you can take it to your local registery office and pay for it there. It will take about six weeks to come through the mail.
After you get your B.C. you can apply for your other ID.
You can also apply for your B.C. on-line, but you need a credit card number.

Maybe they're the same? I don't know.

I've heard a story like this before. The girl literally had NO birth certificate -- it did NOT exist. It was a HUGE mess. I certainly hope that's not your case ...
Here's the big problem. They say that I need to "prove that Vince Gidon is my father, that Im not some immigrant, or was stolen O-o"
We have filled out the forms, it came back with a letter telling us we cant get it or something like that, my dad knows. Also, my family doctor is dead. O-o Plus, on the birth sheets that are like "She isn't green, she weighs this, her name is..." My mom put Brittany Therrien instead of Brittany Gidon, so technically I'm under that for birth, somehow it adds to the confusion and complications.
And yea, I'm canadian :P

Alayney..It IS my case. I never had it. Ever. It's supposed to happen when the kid is born, right?
Do you know what hospital that you were born in? You can ask for a copy of the birth registration. If they won't give it to you ask them if they will fax it to the registry.
Were you baptised? The church will have a copy of the baptism registry and will give you a copy for a small fee. This is how my grandpa received his. He did not get a B.C. until he was 63 and needed it for his retirement benfits.

I think I was born here in town, I will ask, though its hard to get around, my parents refuse to drive me anywhere. And they can't say that I can't have it, no record is every "strictly private" they send them to goverments, other doctors, ect.
I was baptised, but I have nooo idea where O-o hmmm... I should ask my dad about that.

got it! yes, social security number is for the US. Your number and employment laws for Canada are different, and you use the SIN (Social Insurance Number ;)
You can do most of it by telephone.
ASk relatives to tell you your birth story. People love to talk about babies and you will pick up a lot of information. Just let them talk and ask a few leading questions. It works better than asking straight forward questions when people do not want to talk.
Good luck.

Soooo I asked my dad, he has my baptism forms. I don't think there was anyone there to witness my birth....
I have a weird family...

British Columbia... If that is the online form, we have tried that :/
yeah it is, but there should be some information on it.
the preist or preacher witnessed your baptism. is he still alive? man, you're in one heck of a situation =(

I didn't ask my dad that. My dad said the place it was is torn down now. :/
I know I'm in a situation, and it wasn't my fault. You know, no one really answered my question.
"If you are an employer, would you hire a person without an SIN but working on getting it"
Because, if there are a lot of "yep"'s then I might see if I can get a proper job to help save up for college.

i know for a fact some employers will hire "under the table" help. you just have to go around and ask the managers and owners. tell them your situation. i wouldn't go to chain stores (you know, like Mcdonalds, Walmart and the such). private places are the ones more likely to hire
Yea, I will never work at a fast food resturant, probably nothing to do with food at all.
I was thinking the local pet store.. but I dont know if that would work, they arent like "big" or anything, but they are way better than the "big" one across the street.

In the U.S. you cannot work without your SS number -- don't know if it's the same in Canada. However, rather than try working "under the table" you'd better just keep working on straightening this out, because once you DO get out of college, you're still going to need to work. And you're not going to do it under the table your whole life, if ever. I know you know this -- I'm just saying try your darndest to get this fixed!
Yes, a birth certificate is made when the baby is born. I can't believe this happened in this day and age. I would have expected it to happen MAYBE in my grandmother's time. Are you sure you weren't abducted from somewhere/someone? Your parents are the ones who should be figuring this out. Can you ask a counselor at school to help (or maybe you're out of school -- I didn't catch that part)?

It can easily be missed in the first days if the parents choose home birth over hospital birth, but they could still get a birth certificate afterwards. I'm not sure what the process is at that point, though, and it doesn't matter what the process is now if they didn't do it at the time.
As I said, in the hospital my mom was paranoid that my dad would take me and my sister away from her so she said our last names were Therrien instead of Gidon. My school counsellor has been trying to help me, I'm currently out of school for the summer. And the reason why I asked about getting a job -for now- even if it's "under the table" is that I work for my dad and he is cheap and I buy everything of mine and what I get paid for working wont cover clothes, school stuff, hobbies, college. I make almost 1/2 -1/3 of average min. pay.
I would be able to focus on school better too, of course there would go my excercise, but then I could like... Bike to school, or walk - I normally take the bus. I could find some way, I just can keep up with my school and sleep schedule. I work from 2-5:30, winter is longer; I have to run in knee deep snow at times. And school is 8:30- 2:30. I need a least 7 hours of sleep to be grade A functional, I'm trying to get A honours this year. So, with that, it doesn't leave much homework time where as if I could work at the pet store like I want to it be different.
I don't know about other places, but here if you are a student, you can only work part time of 20 hours a week (unless said otherwise by ____? (Someone important)) I think $8/hour is around min. pay. I would be earning at least double my pay unless I get more hours which would be more pay.
But yea ; . ; My dad said when I get a job different than the route I have to pay 20% of what I make. >.> He can't force me, right?
