End day total intake VS output
Okay, so today I started my diet. I did 600 calories worth of exercise. And I only ate 970 calories (thoughout 3 snacks, 3 meals)
That only comes to +370 for the days total... Is that really bad?
I didn't expect to do swimming and more EA Sports Active in the evening (did my EASA 30DC for the day in the morning) so I ate according to aiming for 1000 calories end total....

Firstly, that reads like WAY too few calories for intake. The body needs 1200 just for normal day to day function; i.e. breathing, heartbeat, blood flow, etc. I don't know how you were able to make it through the day with any sanity. I find if I get only 1200 I'm starving!
What you want is a defecit of intake vs. output. So if your intake is 1700 then your output needs to be more. I would suggest the Calorie Count Tools Menu to help determine the amount of calories needed for you specifically.
But whatever you do, please please eat more. You are only hurting your body in the long run by taking in too few calories.
Yeah, my goal was to end the day +1000 calories. I didn't really factor in my exercise when I planned my meals...
I actually ate quite a bit though - I had 6 "meals" (moreso 3 meals, 3 snacks) including drinking vitamin water (100 cal, low sugar/fat/carb)
I used the "Calculate Daily Calories Burned" feature, which I think is what you are talking about for my 1700 calories needed for basic body-functions. It says I need 2360 calories judging by my weight and height and activity level.
What I am really trying to figure out is, is ending the day with +1000 to +1200 calories what I am aiming for?
So say, add my 2360 base and let's say I put out 640 calories for exercise (just to round it out to 3000), how many calories should I aim to eat to healthily lose weight?
Try using the "Calorie Target" Feature under the tools menu. It will tell you extactly how much you need.
If I understand correctly it looks like you don't need to do much and stay with your 2360 intake. If you take in 2360 and put out 3000 that creates your deficit. I understand that one needs a 600 calorie daily deficit between intake and output to lose 1 - 2 lbs a week.
So in my example, I've got to take in 1700 but put out 2300 a day. That gives me a 600 deficit to lose. Make sense?
Wow you must really active!
I work as a nanny for two kids (3.5y and 27m) so my 10 hour work days are full of running around and walking.
And I take transit home, which adds another 45 minutes of JUST walking to and from work.
Plus, I am going to be doing EA Sports Active every morning, and some evenings.
Looking at getting a bike today, which will be nice for exercise too!
It makes sense what you wrote about calories intake and output. Thanks for explaining it to me! My doctor, when I discussed this with her a couple weeks back, said that I should be eating 1200 calories, but she didn't say that I needed to eat more if I am more active (She knows my lifestyle so I figured she had calculated that in)
Today, it's just after lunch time and I am at a much better 650 calories in, 200 calories out. Still under, but I plan on having a decent sized dinner and also my vitamin water (which is 100 cal)
Thanks a lot :D
Why do I have yellow hands and feet?
