Endometriosis Question

Quote  |  Reply

I know there are a few people on here suffering from Endo, my friend has just been officially diagnosed although she's known what it was for a while.

The doctors are confused though - can anyone help them...............?

She has no periods, its not the normal endo complaint of very heavy periods and pain, its all the pain and non of the period, as if the whole lot is going backwards.

Has anyone else had zero periods (with or without random spotting) whilst suffering with Endo?

I have not been "officially" diagnosed with endo, but it has been suspected for close to 15 years. However, just recently a similar thing began happening with me - every other month I have my normal horrible period (and yes, I'm on the pill to help make them better which helps...some) and the other months I have all the symptoms of a period (cramps, bloating, water retention, weight gain, headache from hell et cetera), but no period (and no pregnancy). This just began with me in September. Prior to that, I would have a light period about every three months. I don't know if I am much help. I am trying to loose weight and am exercising more than I used to in the past, so at this point I am tracking everything - exercising, caloric intake, foods consumed, cycle stuff - and probably going to go to my Doctor in a few months if this trend continues. It is my understanding that if a woman doesn't ovulate then she won't bleed, so I am wondering if this is happening with me and perhaps is also happening with your friend. I am not trying to get pregnant and don't expect the official diagnosis to come until we try for a baby. Perhaps this helps, I know it makes me feel a little better that what is now happening to me is also happening with someone else. Best of luck. Let me know if you have any questions or if I can be more helpful.

I have endo and occasionally I would have a light to none existant period, but generally it would be the other extreme and very heavy (like Dac I was also on the pill) I often used to get spotting.  I say all of this in the past tense as I had a hyst 7 yrs ago, I still have my ovaries so still suffer from time to time.

What I do know is endo affects everyone differently, if you had 20 sufferers in the room they will get generic symptoms regarding pain but not always in the same area it all depends on where the endo is.  As Dac also said is there a possibility that her ovaries are not working if you take the pill continously your periods would stop.  It may be worth asking her doc for an ovulation test.

Not sure this will have been much help, there is some great endo support websites out there on the web if you do a search your friend should get a lot of help and support from there.

Pleas wish her luck from me.

Yes. I'm 16 and was diagnosed with endo about 6 months ago. Before going on BCP, I would only have a "real" period every 3-5 months with 2-3 days of spotting once or twice in between periods. The doctor think's I've actually never ovulated, and doesn't know for sure if, once I go off the pill, I will have trouble with fertility.
Yes. I never had really heavy bleeding, but did have a lot of pain and some spotting . Eventually my periods almost stopped completely.
