energy drinks...what do YOU think of them?
I have been going to college for 2 years now and I am in need of energy drinks to get through tough work load nights. I have tried just about everything that is sold in New York. I am attending RIT to be an engineer and trying to stay fit and get in even better shape. This is for people to post on here the energy drinks they like, what they have tried, and what they think of different brands.
I have tried just about everything and I usually went the the amp's, red bulls, monster, rockstar, nos, crunk, among others. I liked the amps, redbulls time to time, the rockstar energy and punch, nos, and have been getting into crunk.
It seems like crunk is a more natural alternative to energy drinks and does not have all the garbage that makes you crash like others. As you all know this is the development of Lil John and is based out of Georgia. Up north this is really hard to get, but I ended up signing up myself to see if i could distribute the "word" of crunk around my college from crunkhouse. Seemed like a good idea until I found out what I was getting myself into. Oh well I just ended up with a crap load of free drinks, advertising stuff, and apparel. I like the origional flavor, which is based off of pomegranate. Pomegranate is really getting popular now for some reason and This company is trying to get their name out as the more "safer" alternative for energy drinks. They also have their sugar free drink and the all new citrus flavor.
I like this as one of my favorites, but amp since Im a Dale Jr. fan, rockstar and monster have some good flavors, redbull since its, well red bull, and nos since its different with the orange flavor and the kick it really gives.
So what do you all think of energy drinks?
I like regular drinks with guarana added, but energy drinks are too much for me! Who's Your Daddy is an okay energy drink, if I were to have any. But IMO, a Larabar gives more energy, in a less artificial way.
I love TAB energy drink. Looks just like the soda, but smaller. It's grapefruity-ish, which is why I dig it.
I used Monster energy drinks a few time my freshman year and i battled through the first couple sips because it tasted like nasty alcohol to me.
Now I still drink them a couple times a week but only for the taste because i've grown to love it. they don't have an effect as far as giving me energy anymore.
i honestly think that if you don't have enough energy during the day, you should look at your diet, try to get more sleep, exercise abit more during the day, or talk to your doctor.
i used to lack energy throughout the day. i was prescribed zoloft for depression, and now people always tell me how hyper i am ;)
If you happen to have a Costco membership (I haven't seen these anywhere else) there is a great organic energy drink there. It gives you energy without the buzz. It has green tea, guarana, yerba mate (great natural energy tea), and vitamin B in it just to name a few. The vitamin B is really essential to feeling good throughout the day. It doesn't just increase energy but it helps your mood as well. So not this energy drink iss actually good for you, not just a shot of caffeine. :)
Maybe if you don't have costco, you can find something similar or find it somewhere else. It is called essn energy.
Here is a review I found:

eerica,
maybe you should try this too. Vitamin B naturally fights depression and a lot of doctors will be quick to prescribe a medication before trying to find a natural cure. Might give it a try. :)
i drink go girl energy drinks... but not cuz i like the taste or anything (i think they all taste pretty much the same, which is to say pretty crappy lol), but because procedes go to support breast cancer lol. SUPPORT the BEWBS!
Here is a link to a company that makes Yerba Mate. I think it is a pretty good company, and a lot more natural than many of the other energy drinks like red bull or rockstar.
I used to be pretty into rockstar, but that is way too much sugar for me now. At this point in my life a strong cup of coffee, or tea in the morning is all I really need. But I am no college student!
I have tried a few of the guayaki products and they are pretty good, although might not have quite the same energy kick as rockstar. I have only had the bottled kinds, but would like to try the loose leaf kind sometime. But like I said coffee really does enough for me these days!
it is good to hear what people think of energy drinks and the trend there is to the reply's. Keep them coming!
This was in our local paper the other day.......
i just go for good old coffee or espresso as a treat. except i've gotten to a point where i can drink a cup of coffee and fall asleep five minutes later.

I'm the same way! I'm a junior in college and after 3 years of this stuff coffee has no effect...
I think I just like the way it tastes now
I just found a new one! It is called Hi-Ball Energy and it is a 10oz. bottle, it is sparkling water with taurine, guarana, ginseng, and B-vitamins. Only 10 cals, so that's great! I'm liking it so far, and feeling energetic!
Also being in college I've tried many energy drinks; Monster, Amp, Redbull, TAB, Rockstar etc.
I tried Hi Ball last week for the first time, and I didn't really feel much of a boost or anything. Definitely tastes like sparkling water.
I stand by my Redbull :) sugarfree redbull usually.
I have tried a few varieties, and I stopped using them for a couple reason. First, I find that they all taste gross, except for the Rockstar Pomegrenate (which I love), secondly, they give me very bad crashes, and also pretty bad headaches, and thirdly, they are way too expensive. Coffee gave me heartburn. So my solution was to stick to Diet Coke (or even store brand version). I have a couple per evening when I really need them, it doesn't mess up my calories, and one can comes to about 0.25 cent when bought on sale.
I think energy drinks are a waste, full of sweeteners and additives. If you really need caffeine that badly - and I suggest still staying in the 300mg a day range - take a thermos to work with you and put good old black coffee, tea, or green tea if you can stomach it. But otherwise Eerica is spot on to me. Get more sleep when you can, take on a little more exercise, speak to a doctor, and review your diet. You may even find the amount of rubbish you might be taking in from energy drinks is what has you so tired all the time.
I train and workout on on consistant basis and overall I've never needed any type of energy drink to "fire me up", so to speak ... but I was introduced to bHIP Global which is a natural energy powder and it's an absolutely amazing product.
It's very low in sugar, carbs, sodium, caffeine and contains ingredients like: green tea extract, acai berry extract, L-valine (increases endurance and helps in recovery time), Maca Root Extract ( Increases stamina and better mental clarity), VitaminB6, B12 ... and those are just some.
It's a very clean energy feeling - so much better than anything you'll ever drink. And it's very easy to use and carry, comes in a little powder packet that goes into water. The berry taste is excellent. http://www.curts.bhipglobal.com any questions ??? check it out !!!!
