What do you think of the English accent?

Just curious..... Is it true Americans love English accents?

I think a lot of Americans do. When I was really young we lived in the UK for a few years, and I picked up an accent (I lived there from about 3-6/7 years old). The accent is gone now, but when I first came back, I got a lot of attention at school and other places because of it. When I went trick-or-treating I got more candy than any of my friends because of it, LOL.

My mom moved to the US from England and all her relatives still live over there of course... I love talking to them on the phone. Visiting in person is even better.  Even the cab drivers in London sound cool.  =)

There are some English accents that are more difficult for me to understand. I just have to listen more closely, especially northern ones.  :)  Probably because my mom and most family is from Kent.

Heh..... My accent is north-eastern. A fair twang of Geordie in there as I have lived ni Newcastle for 12 years now.

I visited London and had to repeat myself pretty often as they couldn't understand me for speaking too fast.... hee hee..... Has its uses ;)

I'm used to Irish accents as my dad is from Ireland so all my relatives are Irish. I loved my Irish boyfriend's accent. It was so aggressive and sexy.

But I do love a good English accent...a la Clive Owen...

I also looovveeee Gerard Butler's Scottish accent...

Canadian here....... LOVE the english accent.

I didn't think I did until I met one and he totally swept me off my feet.  I could just sit there and listen to him talk..... lol

I do! I studied in Leeds on exchange for a year and I love they way they talked.

I think it depends on the area. I have a friend from Birmingham and I can't understand anything she says unless, as she says, she uses her fake, Cambridge, accent.

I am a sucker for any accent.  I like people in general from different places.

what about the French-speaking belgian accent, he???

I dunno. Call me and I'll tell you if it makes me melt or not ;D

I love any accent as well... but there's something about an Englishmen. mmm mmm mmm....

ahh! I love the english accent; along with any northern european accents. I used to want to have an english accent so badly when I was younger. I really love it there, so maybe I'll end up living there and picking one up. It's weird though, cause many people have told me that they love my "accent" when I travel. Australians especially love American accents, but I don't know how they could, it's so plain to me.

We do love they way you Brits and Aussies talk!  I think it's from watching movies - James Bond or Crocodile Duneee anyone?

This is horribly rude of me...but I don't like Australian accents sometimes. Only because the most heinous witch I ever met had one...she was from Perth. Any time I ever hear a similar accent I cannot like the person who's speaking..

English accent are SSSOOOO Sexy!!! Lol i know its shallow, but even in my profile I put that i adore nice guy with british accent :P

In my last job I dealt with a company whose home office was in England.  Everyone was pretty much English/Scottish.  I would talk to this one guy sometimes with a Scotish accent and I just wanted to tell him to talk dirty to me. ; )

Totally! It's adorable, and my favorite accent! ^^

Mind you- I'm not going to go for a guy just because he has a sweet accent. Does make a plus, though. : P
