(edit: changed the name of the group, since everyone is at different daysSmile)

So since I've started using calorie counter, i've lost 15 lbs and I feel great! But more recently I have starting bingeing horribly, my stomach feels like a bottomless pit and nothing seems to satisfy me. I know how horrible it is, and the reasons why I binge(whether its emotional/life etc) but nothing stops me.

I have come to the notion, that I keep telling myself 'never again' although this just starts the bingeing cycle. The all or nothing thinking gets me everytime and usually if I eat too much before noon (aka over my calorie intake), i just put everything in and keep eating like that all day because the whole day is ruined.

NEW THINKING: I'm going to move on and don't let my overeating result in ruining the rest of my day.

I found this in another forum, and I want to quote it: it really pushed me to make this post :

"It's a misconception for us bingers that binging is inevitable. The urge to binge, like the urge to do anything else, can and will pass if we give it time. But time is also an issue for us. We tend to be impulsive by nature and once we feel we've hit that point of no return, we believe there's no sense in trying to stop it. Having said that, there is also wisdom in knowing your triggers and staying clear of them for a time, learning how to deal with your emotions/stresses in a more effective way, and getting support."

Anyways ANYONE who wants to start this no bingeing journey ...join.

WE can get through this TOGETHER one day at a time.Laughing

Did pretty well today, but at the moment I'm really wanting to finish off some kettle bake bbq chips.....not hungry, just like how they taste.  I'm posting here to keep my fingers busy and the bag full :-).

Other than the present moment, today went well.  Around 6pm while making dinner I kind of started binge behavior (mindlessly snacking while prepping dinner), but I did stop myself and then adjusted the calories/portion in dinner to even things out.

No BBQ baked chips tonight!!!!

How's everyone doing!?!?!  Post your thoughts, just don't reach for those extra snacks :-)  Let's all do good til it's time to go to bed!!
well i was not hungry most of the day so i didn't really eat until tonight. i had a piece of boneless chicken, broccoli, and some salad. then later i kinda binged on pretzel sticks w/ cottage cheese, some all-bran crackers w/ pb and some cereal w/ pb. but i guess it's because i didn't eat anything else today. so as for day 1, i'd say i kinda failed but oh well.

luzd- I also had a "mini-binge" but i caught myself. yay for us!!!

I binge a lot when I'm nervous/worried about something :[

whoops- sorry about the double post!

I am a binger too. trying to recover. Can I join you guys???

Good luck to everyone.:))

S-

yay we did it!

DAY 1 : COMPLETE

Ka and safina, of course you can join and welcome!!

Luzd: Congrats on finishing DAY 1! Ice cream is a big weakness of mine too!! I've learned to just not have it in the house. That is AMAZING that you stopped yourself. And you did NOT binge today, you just overate. The all or nothing approach catches us all, but we have to learn that if we can stop ourselves we save soo many calories and that horrible guilt feeling in the end.

Timcochic: CONGRATS ON FINISHING DAY 1.. tomorrow will be just as good. Keep it up!

Ekunold: Congrats on finishing DAY 1 and for your self-control!!! Smile Those kettle bbq chips seem disasterous. I think the easiest way to avoid them is NOT having them in the house, for they trigger your binges. As well, chips are sooo hard to eat in moderation (do you remember that lays commercial slogan "bet you cant just eat one" --- well they were right!) While making dinner, try chewing gum to keep your mouth occupied or brushing your teeth beforehand.

Mikeiscool: Congrats on finishing DAY 1! If that is all you ate today, then you didnt do that bad 'calorie-wise'. Although binge/nutrition wise, you already know why you ate so much. Don't eat anything else tonight, and Starting tomorrow eat meals during the day even if you are not hungry. Especially breakfast and lots of fibre and water! You can do it!

Whatever07: Congrats on finishing DAY 1!!!! Emotions are a big part of binging. We go to food for comfort. Try to find something else you can turn to, talking to a friend, painting your nails, going for a walk etc. instead of food. Great self-control!! The key point is to catch yourself!

For everyone else:

WE DID IT AND CONGRATS!!!

I'm going to try and give feedback to everyone to whoever replies at the end of the day probably before 11ish. Today was a good day for me, I ate 100 more calories than i wanted to, although I exercised and more importantly I DID NOT BINGE. Right now, bubble mint gum is occupying me from eating anymore.

I say we add in weekly weigh-ins? What does everyone think.

So one day is done.

WHOS READY FOR DAY 2?   (everyone!!!Laughing)

Yeah, I eat plenty during the day (I'm just not usually hungry...) What I meant was that I make sure I'm eating healthy, filling foods every four hours(ish) so that I never get to the point of being starving.

And I guess this'll be my evening check-in: all's good for today =)

yay! my day went awesome...i went over my allotted calories by about 100 but its okay...im trying to get my period back anyways :) but thats no excuse to binge! so tomorrow...is a new day :) hopefully ill get a chance to exercise tomorrow & get back into shape...without seeing it as an excuse to binge. i realized that that's the reason i've been avoiding exercise, and it needs to stop. now!

Alyssam: ah I understand what you mean now!! Good day = CONGRATS!!!!
Keep it up for mexico, a week of good eating always makes me feel good and I bet you felt great today tooLaughing

Aeroplanexc: I used to always make excercise my excuse to binge. While binging, i'd be like i'll just exercise this off. But in the end, I wouldnt excercise and would have eaten everything in sight. CONGRATS ON DAY 1!!!!!!! There is no excuse for binging, and you finished day 1, tomorrow will be just as awesome!!!

Being that I'm about to go to bed in 4 minutes, I think I officially survived day one.  Woo Hoo!

What made it really easy, is that I was totally busy, didn't get home until 7:30, and once I was home, I was completely consumed with playing with my new toy.

I brushed my teeth when I was done with my calories, and that was that.

I wish every day could be this easy.

Congrats to everyone that stuck with it!!  Baby steps, baby steps.  :)

im SOOOO in!! i can usually make it about 6 to 7 days then end the week in a binge and i dont know why! i would love to make it 2 weeks without a binge!!! the sad thing is i used this site to lose 15 pounds and got to my ideal weight then once i got there i managed to binge my weight back to those 15 pounds plus more!!! i need to get my eating in control so i can once again lose the weight :(

i'm in :)

was doing really well during the first half of this month. fell off track for a few days mid-month, but i've been doing great since the full moon :)

almost succumbed to the urge to binge yesterday, but jumped on here and fought it off successfully.

DAY 2 DAY 2 DAY 2 DAY 2 DAY 2 DAY 2 DAY 2 DAY 2 DAY 2 DAY 2

Good Morning everyone and welcome to those who just joined!!!

"One small step at a time."

--> You will reach your goal for sure if you break a complicated task into small actionable steps. Do just one step at a time. To get started, choose something you know you can do easily. That can get the ball rolling for getting more done. These small steps will get you where you need to go.

One day at a time will work, im so happy that most of us had a great day yesterday! And I am looking forward to another successful day!

I was looking through the forums when I had just started CC, and I found this poem that I tagged, and it really helped get through those days when I felt like quitting. Here it goes..

When you've eaten too much and you can't write it down,

And you feel like the biggest failure in town.

When you want to give up just because you gave in,

and forget all about being healthy and thin.

So What! You went over your points a bit,

It's your next move that counts...So don't you quit!

It's a moment of truth, it's an attitude change.

It's learning the skills to get back in your range.

It's telling yourself, "You've done great up till now.

You can take on this challenge and beat it somehow."

It's part of your journey toward reaching your goal.

You're still gonna make it, just stay in control.

To stumble and fall is not a disgrace,

if you summon the will to get back in the race.

But, often the struggler's, when loosing their grip,

Just throw in the towel and continue to slip.

And learn too late when the damage is done,

that the race wasn't over...they still could have won.

Lifestyle change can be awkward and slow,

but facing each challenge will help you grow.

Success is failure turned inside out,

the silver tint in a cloud of doubt.

When you're pushing to the brink, just refuse to submit,

If you bite it, you write it....But don't you quit!

The key is to never quit, we can get through this together!!!!!

Today can be "motivational quotes" day, so if you'd like share some that helped you!

DAY 2 here we come!

hello, I'm back and I didn't binge yesterday and so far today is going quite well, so I'll be back later to let you know that I made it through day 2. Wink thanks for the tips and poem. They are really helpful.Smile

I'm in!  Didn't get a chance to log in yesterday, but made it through day 1.  I'm having a huge struggle with day 2!  I am completely an emotional binge eater and have battled it for about 20 years now.  I have had an absolutely frustrating afternoon and my first thought when I left my Dr. office in tears was "how far is the nearest Dairy Queen."  I managed to force myself by sheer will to just drive back to work.

Now I'm sitting at my desk at work and trying to recover.  I am so stressed and frustrated and angry that I know it's going to be a rough night!

Help!

Agh! The afternoon munchies are killing me... I haven't binged yet, but I'm in the danger zone!

Everyday for about an hour after I eat my lunch I get the munchies... for anything and everything. I'm not hungry, but I feel the need to snack. I have a nectarine sitting on my desk staring me down should I crack and need to eat...

I can't seem to finish a day under 1900 cals... it's still a deficit, but I'd like to be able to stay at 1700 or less. MUST NOT SNACK!

I always get the afternoon munchies, and if I dont have any healthy choices ready, I end up eating a whole bag of chips (literally). The key is to control your cravings by keeping yourself occupied and make sure you are eating enough during the day.

For me sucking on sugar-free candies (like Crystal light) or chewing gum keeps my mouth occupied.  Especially if you are on the way back from work and are wanting to stop at Dairy Queen. Just think how good you will feel at the end of the day when you see you were able to control yourself. Then treat yourself to dairy queen at the end of the week to reward yourself so you wont feel deprived (add it into your calorie intake of course!)

Here are some articles I found that might be interesting/helpful to curb those cravings!!! Or just something to do other than think of food!!!
