A very good friend of mine (and coworker) started taking ephedrap57 3 weeks ago and has lost 15 pounds. At this time, I am not considering taking these pills but wanted to do some research for her because for the most part I have heard that diet pills are all a scam and can be dangerous for your health.
I went online and cannot find a single thing negative about these pills. I even went on neutral sites like diet reviews and stuff like that and everything says they work really well.
So, I wanted to get some honest opinions from anyone who has actually used it. If you have tried it, or are on it, what are your thoughts and experiences?

Umm... besides the fact that Ephedra is ILLEGAL IN THE UNITED STATES? And has been BANNED?
Unless Ephedra57 isn't actually Ephedra?

Do yourself a favor. Don't try these diet pills.
I actually read that Ephedra ban was overturned in april 05 but I cant find why it was banned. So, it is legal and I am NOT considering taking the pills but I wanted to find out more about them for my friend and in this case it isnt one of those " I have this friend...." its really true. I worry about her health on those things.
Where can u buy this stuff???
No, it's been re-banned.
And it was banned because it's unhealthy, it dangerously raises your blood pressure. People with heart problems taking this drug were dying. Including a famous Orioles Pitcher.
You can't buy it, sirup. It's banned. It's not legal in the U.S.

I dont know that it has been rebanned because she orders it online. Just bought 3 bottles.
I have a horror story for you...
I used them a few years ago, and I DID lose alot of weight. It was anywhere from 30-40 pounds in a summer. I looked great, but everytime I tried to stand up, I would get so dizzy that it made me sick. I would never have an appetite, so I wouldn't eat anything but fruit and water. Bad, bad, BAD idea.
I stopped taking it, and I gained everything back and THEN SOME. I'm trying to get back to where I was the healthy way, and there are no shortcuts to it.
Please tell your friend to stop taking it. Yes, it feels good to lose weight...but what happens when you gain everything back once you eat a piece of chicken? And what about your health?

This is exactly the sort of story I was looking for. She has all the excuses like once she gets to goal weight she will only take it sometimes in order to maintain and she is not taking as much as they say to take and all that. Thak you goddess.
Ephedra is now legal again. It is only legal in 10 mg doses. I do know a lot of people that had success with ephedra before it was banned. I have been thinking about using Ephedrap57 but I want to do more research too. I eat well and exercise daily but I seem to be stuck right where I am. I don't want to lose much at all. 10 pounds at the most.
Ephedra is not banned. (though it may be banned in certain States.) I have seen it for sale in 25 mg doses. It is, however, illegal to add ephedra to a weight loss supplement. That's why Trim Spa took the ephedra out. I sometimes take ephedra when I can't afford my asthma medicine. It helps me breathe. But it is indeed very dangerous for anyone who has any sort of heart problem or high blood pressure. Ephedra raises your blood pressure.
Oh, I see. That pill company is able to put it in a weight loss supplement now because it has less that 10 mg. That's the new law, apparently. One can still buy it as a brocodialator at higher dosages in most states.
Ephedra is still banned. According to the FDA website:
No dosage of dietary supplements containing ephedrine alkaloids is safe and the sale of these products in the United States is illegal and subject to FDA enforcement action.

Me again. My goodness! I just saw the price tag on that pill! Trust me, you're better off with sensible diet and exercise. You could join a mighty fancy gym for that kind of money! No diet pill is a magic quick fix. If it was, none of us would be here!
I copied and pasted this from the link that just posted:
Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) final rule declaring all dietary supplements containing ephedrine alkaloids adulterated, and therefore illegal for marketing in the United States
So, what was banned is all dietary SUPPLEMENTS containing ephedrine...but ephedrine that is NOT in a dietary supplement is legal.

CM, yes, it's banned from being added to dietary supplements, I thought I said that? Though the new law out of Utah implies that doses under 10 mg are now ok, probably because that's so low it doesn't do anything at all. I can and do still buy it as a brocodialator, in tablets that are 25mg ephedra and 200 gueffinessin.
ephedra works wonders but it has it's costs, hence the ban.
you can eat what you want while taking it, it's not a magic pill... it's a metabolic enhancer.
I personally think FDA overreacts to it, there are very few deaths related to a voluntaru substance vs. some way more extreme numbers for things such as gastric bypass.

if you scroll down, it says that it has not been approved by the fda as safe. is this meant to be a weight loss pill? apparently its for asthma and allergies.

Maybe when it was first started, gastic bypass deaths were higher - but the surgery has gotten better and safer - also people who get gastric bypasses know it's a one-way street, a last resort. After doing everything else humanly possible, they would rather risk a low chance of death than know they'll die an early age because of extreme obesity. Many people who get this do it ONLY with a doctors recommendation, and often have a genetic disorder that make them hang on to and put on weight more so than the rest of of.
I'd hesitate to compare Ephedrine with Gastric Bypass : (.
Also, this is not to be confused with the surgery that puts a ring around the top of the stomach which can be removed later.

Here are two links to information about Ephedra (the plant) and Ephedrine (the drug derived from the plant), along with the introductory paragraphs. Bold emphasis is mine.
Ephedra http://nccam.nih.gov/health/alerts/ephedra/co nsumeradvisory. htm
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advises consumers to stop using dietary supplements containing ephedra. In order to protect consumers, the FDA published a final rule on April 12, 2004, that bans the sale of dietary supplements containing ephedrine alkaloids.
After a careful review of the available evidence about the risks and benefits of ephedra in supplements, the FDA found that these supplements present an unreasonable risk of illness or injury to consumers. The data showed little evidence of ephedra's effectiveness, except for short-term weight loss, while confirming that the substance raises blood pressure and stresses the heart. The increased risk of heart problems and strokes negates any benefits of weight loss.
Ephedra is a naturally occurring substance that comes from botanicals. The principal active ingredient ephedrine is an amphetamine-like compound that can powerfully stimulate the nervous system and heart. Ephedrine alkaloids are found naturally in a number of plants, including the ephedra species (also known by the traditional Chinese medicine name--ma huang or Chinese Ephedra, or epitonin). In recent years, ephedra products have been marketed as dietary supplements to promote weight loss, increase energy, and enhance athletic performance.

WARNING: This drug should not be used in combination with other stimulant products (e.g., caffeine), other cough-and-cold products, or as a dietary supplement for the purpose of weight loss or body building. Doing so may increase your risk of unlikely but potentially fatal side effects including: stroke, heart attack, seizures, or severe mental disorders (see Side Effects section and Precautions section). In addition, dietary supplements containing ephedrine should not exceed 8 mg as a single ephedrine dose, 24 mg of ephedrine per day (24 hours), or be given for longer than 7 days, as recommended by the FDA. Exceeding the recommended ephedrine dose increases your risk of the side effects noted above. For detailed information, consult your pharmacist. Check all product labels carefully to see if they contain ephedrine or ephedra/ma huang.
