Epic tale of rude betch at Walgreen's and how I almost choked her with her cell phone

Quote  |  Reply

OH Christ I hate people sometimes.

I'm mad enough as it is as I have to deal with some insurance issue at the pharmacy. The woman in front of me has TWO techs tied up trying to explain some chicken scratch on a sticky note regarding some prescription. Hopefully it's for cyanide.

As she is doing that, her cell phone rings. She does what any other normal, functioning adult would do:

SHE ANSWERS THE PHONE AS THE TECHS ARE TRYING TO EXPLAIN SOMETHING TO HER AND STARTS TALKING TO THE PERSON WITHOUT EVEN AN "EXCUSE ME A MOMENT".

If that wasn't enough to send me into a spirochete rage, another call comes in and she answers that one, too "oh hey lemme call you back...hello? oh hi..."

Luckily for everyone involved the techs were as annoyed as I was and called me up to the front

Wow, props to you for not totally losing it.  Can't say I would have been quite so nice....

You need one of these.

Just don't get caught with it.

I'll give her a size 8 jammer right up her big fat @ss.

Like I said, shout out to the techs who walked away and helped other customers. They saved her life Surprised

that was pretty epic man.

It was a total Cecile B. DeMille move

In this day and age, that was pretty heroic for the employees to snub her.  I hate to see cashiers put up with that but they seem to do it all the time.

Swearing in Australian is still swearing. Swearer.

I'm surprised you didn't gut her like a fish. I would have been tempted.

I've had that done to me once and seen it done to others countless times...so damn rude.

I know, right!

I mean trust me, I'm no saint (shocking I know). I've been known to be on the phone while checking out at the grocery store. What I DO NOT do is hold up the line while everyone is waiting for the cashier to answer my questions while I answer my phone

I don't think we 'fat asses' have the patent on rudeness, Spiro. Just sayin'.
You're the grocery store talker?!

Ok, she really ticked me off recently. There was a long line at the self-checkouts during the grocery rush hour right after work. This lady obviously didn't know how to use the scanner. She'd pick up an item, drop it on the scanner, and wait. She'd pick it up, shake it, and put it back down and wait. The attendant (one guy for 8 machines) kept trying to help her. Her cellphone rang, she answered, and was then using ONE hand to manipulate her groceries and not listening to the guy trying to help her and speed things along. Grr.

When I was a cashier it used to really irritate me when people talked on the phone while I was waiting on them.  I thought it was the height of rudeness and very belittling to the person who was doing business with them.  As if I weren't worth their precious time when they could have just as easily called whomever back when our business was done.  Therefore, I try hard not to be talking on the phone when my turn comes at the register and if I get a call, I tell the person I'll call them right back.  To me, that is the only polite thing to do.

So you got up to the counter sooner than you would have otherwise because she decided to take a cell phone call.

And this enrages you?

...

ok lady - it's your life!

did you know that anger and stress lead to increased cortisol in your blood, which contributes to the accumulation of abdominal (visceral) fat?

are you here to lose weight?  try shedding the anger and you may find it easier to shed the weight - may i suggest a martial arts or kickboxing regimen?

How exactly does one choke someone with a cell phone?

But seriously though, I can't stand those people...

Someone has a case of the 'Wednesdays' ;)

The other day I was at FAO Schwartz in New York and a guy paying for stuff was on the phone the entire time.  After he paid for his stuff, he apologized for being on the phone which really surprised me, in a good way :]

My parents, on the other hand, constantly annoy me with their cell phones.  They talk insanely loud in the most inappropriate situations.  My dad does this more than my mom.  At a restaurant for dinner?  He'll just blab away.  He has the rudest phone-picking up etiquette, too.  He'll pick up, look at who's calling and carry on a conversation with someone else, and then finally acknowledge you.  If you want to continue talking to someone else, just don't pick up!  Geez >_<

Will I have to credit you if I choose to take the thread title and make a children's book out of it? :[

I worked at Walgreens for 5 years. Retail is the worst business ever. Hence, I no longer work there :)

I did the same thing as a tech or cashier. When a customer starts to completely ignore me because of a phone call, well, I moved on. Sorry but there are other paying customers who would be happy to get the heck out of the store.

This gets me all annoyed just thinking about lines, retail and rude people. I feel my blood pressure rising.

Ugh! My hubby is one of those people who can't NOT answer their phone. He once answered his phone while we were talking to the loan officer about refinancing our home loan! His excuse? It was a friend from high school who he hadn't talked to in a long time. Not sure why it couldnt' wait another 30 mins...

spirochete, I would have been every bit as annoyed as you were! Rudeness is never acceptable.
