erm... gas
this is a reaaaaalllllllllyyyyy awkward thing to be asking but is it usual aside from the bloating to become gassy in weight gain.
I am experiencing really bad stomach problems and I think it may be because i'm eating more but i am unsure if it is because of that. i don't have allergies and i'm only semi lactose intollerant. may this be an effect of me maybe becoming diabetic? because both my grandparents are diabetic.
i really hate the awkward stomach pangs and i don't know how to get rid of them. any ideas on why this is happening to me and how i can deal with it? I don't want to stop eating food groups to see if its something thats making me sick because i need the protein and calcium and nutrients from foods for my weight gain. HELP! IDEAS! THANKS!
i know exactly how you feel mate i have the same problem i found by cutting my fruit intake this helped also tum tums are good or gaviscon is good but if you dont want to take pills peppermint tea is a good stomach settler h x
I think this is extremely common, especially in recovery from an ED. Some meds you can try are gas-x or beano, which I think work pretty well.
Here are some articles explaining the causes of gas, treatments, and foods that may be more gas producing: http://www.everydayhealth.com/digestive-healt h/foods-that-cause-excessive-gas.aspx

Generally a low fiber diet can help. Also be sure you're not eating artificial sweeteners as these can cause bloating and lots of gas. Try eating slow, not chewing gum and avoiding carbonation. I would advise keeping a notebook of when you find you are most gassy and try to figure out what foods caused it.
You may find too certain veggies and fruits cause more then others. Also if you have it with a starch it may aid in digesting. Have you noticed it more with certain foods? Like for me beans and spicy foods are a big no. As for the diabetic I had not heard that though it may be true. Have you had your blood sugar checked?
thankyou all so much. at least i know im not alone on this.
tessa: i'll try the tea we have some in stock
swimfan: I read the articles and all my favourite foods fruit and vegetable wise are in the list of can cause gas. :(
abbi: i hope its not spicy foods cause thats the only way i like my food. i haven't had my blood sugar checked but i should.
i actually have a feeling that it might be peanut butter but i don't want to take it out of my diet because its the only thing which i find useful in weight gain. its so easy to combine with stuff.
other foods that trigger might also be yoghurt so i only have one tub a day. im seeing a nutritionist in two weeks so hopefully shell be able to help me with this i just needed a few questions answered.
thanks once again
I can totally relate. At first I thought it was just my body getting used to eating again but it's been 5 months now and not any better. I have ended up cutting out different foods (aspartame, dairy, gluten, veggies, fruit, peanut butter....not all at the same time of course LOL) to see if they were the problem but nothing has helped yet. So, I got some food intolerance testing done a couple weeks ago and am waiting for the results, and hoping that it give me some answers. It's really frustrating b/c most of my fear of eating now has to do with being in pain. If it weren't for the pain this whole weight gain thing would be a lot easier.
Can I drink coffee without raising my sodium intake?
With only 5 milligrams of sodium per 8-ounce cup, coffee is considered to be a very low sodium food. Additions to coffee, such as small amounts of milk... Read more
