I got drunk last night and (as always) binged baaaaddd. I hassled my friend for money and bought 4 chocolate bars, then went back to someone elses house and raided their cupboards and ate chocolate cake 2 slices of toast with lots of butter and choc spread and a scone. Now I not only feel awful for eating all that crap but also for the fact that it was someone elses food. oh and i also took a bite out of their block of cheese. i feel so terrible. I do it everytime i drink, i don't know how to get out of this cycle.

uh...maybe stop getting drunk???
I agree!!!!!
hey carly,
what can i say, we do strange things when we've have too much to drink. i've eaten grapes off the floor after a bachelorette party. oh yeah, that's classy alright haha.
maybe you should consider cutting out or reducing your alcohol comsumption for a while, so you'll feel more in control. what other things do you do with your friends? try to plan activities that don't even tempt you and your friends to go overboard with the drinking.

I went out last Monday to a cocktail bar because I'd had a miserable weekend and needed a cheering up. I was scared of the dreaded drunken binging that would almost certainly occur when I got home, but it never came! The only thing I can put it down to is the fact that my drinks were all fruit juice based, cranberry, pinapple, apple etc. So while the drinks were definitely not low cal, I think the fruit juice stopped me feeling hungry! Usually when I go out I drink soda as a mixer, and I'm always hungry when I get home.
i feel your pain gemmaface! I went to my cousin's b-day party last night and I ate waht I wouldn't have eaten if I weren't drinking. but just get past it and do better today. When I know I"ll be drinking I prepare for it during hte day and limit my cals. You just have to have control over yourself even when you do drink. I'm not for saying you shouldn't go get drunk b/c you don't necessarily need to but maybe drink a little less so you don't get drunk and need to binge.
I used to get totally obliterated when I got drunk (10-15 drinks each time). On top of the 1,200+ calories I would get from all the booze, I would then start scurrying for drunk food.
Now if I drink at all, I cut myself off after 4 beers and do whatever I can to avoid eating afterwards. Another thing that helps is to drink an equivalent amount of water with each drink you have (water is free at bars). You will feel full, and after running back and forth to the bathroom several times an hour, you'll realize you need to stop.

I quit drinking on Feb. 5, 2007 when I started my diet. (Not Forever though) Because drinking = a lot of calories! I didn't think about the binges but now that I think about it I'm glad I stopped. me and my friends would hit up waffle house, steak and shake, waterburger, and all the other 24 hour places every weekend! and when i'm drunk I eat a lot. Actually I have saved money by not buying drinks at the bar and not eating out. it kinda sucks being sober while all your other friends are having a great time. But I have one pregnant friend that is always out to so we can relate, kinda. I'm going to her 2nd baby shower at the end of the month. Her sister is throwing this one. There is going to be a keg at this one. I plan on drinking but now that i'm thinking about the binges and the fact that there will be a lot of food and cake I might be reconcidering!
I guess if I drink I will have to limit myself so I don't get out of control! Thats what I suggest for you to!

drinks have a TON of calories too.
Totally in the same boat. I just joined this site this week and i knew i was drinking on friday, so i tricked myself out of binging
well, kinda.
I brought with me (was at a friend's) a bag of popcorn- the big bag. it only has 90 cals/ serving, 2.5 servings/ bag= 225 calories. And it takes a while to eat...
So, yes i sorta binged, but since it wasnt anything high caloric i felt alright...much better than a box of cookies or bag of chips that i'd eat otherwise.
just a tip. i enjoy a few drinks now and then and totally understand the out of control binge that comes late night.

If you're drinking so much that you are doing things while drunk that you end up being embarrased about when sober, then you are drinking too much! Imagine what those people said when they found a bite taken out of their cheese. Not very pretty, is it? I'd nip that drinking in the bud right now. Not only is it bad for your health and eating habits, no one wants to be the crazy drunk person that everybody is talking about the next day. Set yourself a drink limit. Stop when you get a light buzz, and don't have another unless you wait for the buzz to fade. People drink to have fun, but it doesn't sound like you had much fun. Lighten it up a bit.
I hear what you're saying PlaidPooka, but its virtually impossible for me not to drink, i live around a huge social scene, and already go out much less then everyone else because of the cals involved in drinking.
I gave up drink last year for 6 months whilst at university when I used to be extremely restrictive and eat next to nothing, but found I was miserable cos I blocked myself off from everyone else and just basically sat in my room whilst everyone else was out having fun.
I feel like I have part of my life back now I've started drinking again, as sad as it sounds.
Since the night I wrote about above though i've been so fixated on not binging that its happened more! Even after just a couple of drinks I find the drunken binge happens. I am going out sunday night and emptying all cupboards of food!
I really want to stop, giving up alcohol is not an option. has anyone successfully got over this?

Thats funny cause as I posted above, I stopped drinking around Feb. and my friends would call and want me to go out with them and I didn't. I feared I would eat or drink. I was being way to strict on myself. I never did anything. My friends were getting mad and saying that I was selling out then eventually they didn't bother inviting me out cause they knew I wouldn't go. THATS SAD, HUH? I started going out again and just not drinking. I have self control now so it's fine. Then at a few special events I had some drinks. Actually 5 times. But they were all special occasions. And once I did kinda binge afterwards. I ate girlscout cookies. Like 10 of them. but the next morning I weighed less?! Actually I lost 10 pounds last month even after drinking at these events so It can't be that bad on the diet unless you do it all the time. The other time I had some of the food at the party but it was before I started drinking. And I worked it into my calories. (the food not the alcohol, LOL) The last time we went out my friends kidnapped me and we all went to waterburger. BUT I didn't eat anything I just watched them. I didn't even feel left out or anything.
You just need to have selfcontrol! I don't plan on drinking everytime I go out like I used to. But i'm not going to sit at home and worry about all the little calories either. If there is a special occasion I will have a few drinks and enjoy it! But this month there is only one specia occasion that I know of, a wedding, I will have some drinks. But other than that I don't plan on drinking. But that doesn't mean i'm sitting at home either!

You really don't have to drink to be social carlyf.
I used to have a deal with the bartender, when somebody would buy me a drink he would mix it up to look just like my regular but it would have no alcohol in it. Only the two of us knew I could so be the designated driver most nights. Sometimes I would have one or two then switch over. There is always another way if you want it.

Hi,
I can relate to you binge eating when you are drunk...i do the same thing when i am drunk, so i try not to get to that point. I can't anymore anyway as i am a Mom and have a 15 month old.
Good luck and if they are your friends they will understand:)
