What does everyone eat for Breakfast (Healthy)?

Quote  |  Reply
I am looking for good healthy breakfast ideas.  I am currently eating a 267 total breakfast including oatmeal with 1 tbs of Brown Sugar and 20 Raisins.  I am getting tired of that.  I am trying to lost 50 lbs.  I have lost 14 this month.  I have 36 to go.  I am eating between 1200 - 1400 calories a day.  Any suggestions???  Thank you.

I love my oatmeal for breakfast.  But, I do add different things.  Right now I'm on raisins and honey.  But, I love bananas with a few walnuts and a smidgen of brown sugar.  When berries are on sale I love strawberries or raspberries or blueberries, or sometimes a few of each.  Try a bit of maple syrup for sweetener.

Or, try Go-Lean Crunch.  That's a great crunchy alternative.

edit:  Or yogurt mixed with Go-Lean crunch or another healthy cereal.
I find this a yummy breakfast.

1 plain Quaker Oats rice cake - 35 calories
your choice flavor Dannon light n fit yogurt - 60 calories

Smear the yogurt on the rice cake, and you're good to go.  Way more filling than it sounds.
I can't start my morning without two things, coffee and eggs. Every morning I pour myself a cup of joe and then I prep my breakfast:

1 cup egg whites, scrambled (equals four eggs, but without the cholesterol)
120 calories
2 pieces of whole grain, high fiber wheat toast
160 calories
1/4 cup of low-fat (or no-fat) cheese
45-65 calories
Put them together and you have my lovely egg sammich for breakfast. =p

It's low calorie, high protein and high carbohydrates. Good all around except in the vitamin department... which is why I almost always add a piece of fruit or a vegitable and always, always, always my multi.
I love cold cereal (Heritage O's) and milk for breakfast, and sometimes I'll throw in some fresh berries or eat a dish of fresh pineapple.

2 egg whites whipped and cooked in a skillet like a crepe are mighty yummy, with a dollop of plain nonfat yogurt and some chives on top. Serve with fresh fruit.

Cooked buckwheat groats are also super delish, served with 1 T honey or 1 T maple syrup. Add fresh raspberries on top.

1 piece whole grain bread spread with 1 T honey and topped with a mound of blueberries...mmmmm!
I'm a college student and like to sleep as late as possible so it makes cooking a healthy breakfast near impossible. So i start everyday off with a Clif builder bar. They come in different flavors, although I think the plain chocolate ones are the best and it satisfies any sweet cravings I have for the day.
They're 270 calories and have 20g of protein so they keep me full well into lunch time. They have the nutritional information for them on this site so if you're interested it's easy to look up.

This morning I had 1 cup Cheerios with 1/2 banana, 1/3 cup blueberries, 1 tsp sugar & 1/2 cup 2% mild = 257 calories

Total Raisin Bran w/ 1/2 cup 2% = 235

Fruit Salad (grapes, berries, apples, bananas) top with some light whipped cream, or dolop of yogurt & granola.  Not many calories at all, approx 150.  Add a piece of whole wheat toast and your set.
1/2 cup of kashi go lean (70 calories) / 1/4 cup of quick oats (75 calories) + 1 small banana (95 calories) + light vitasoy milk (60 calories) = 225/230 calories

sometimes i add flax seed oil (30 calories/ tsp) or almonds (about 60 calories for eight) to get some good fats. I add brewer's yeast also to get some good protein, fiber, and b-vitamins because I'm vegan which is 60 calories. I would suggest decreasing amount of sugar you eat with breakfast to prevent insulin peaking. raisins have a ton of sugar (as does brown sugar obviously hehe). the breakfast is high in protein and fiber...the best meal of the day for me!
i've gotten into this thing where i eat fiber one every day for breakfast. it starts you out with all the fiber you need for the day and it tastes good too!
Kashi Heart to Heart Cereal (and a glass of fat free milk for all)

or

Quaker Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

or

Kashi Blueberry Waffles with Smucker's Sugar Free Strawberry Spread (heated to make it spread better ^^)

or

Flavored Egg Beaters with onion, peppers, celery, etc. ^^
Thank ya'll for all of your ideas.
I like all Kashi cereals, but currently I have Kashi Cinna-Raisin-Crunch. I also love Special K Vanilla almond.  I have both with 1/2 cup skim milk.  I'm in college, so if I'm running late for class I usually grab a Clif Bar (the crunch peanut butter flavor is fabulous) or a Luna Bar with my morning coffee.  On the weekends it's usually microwavable whole wheat pancakes w/ lite syrup, scrambled eggs with whole wheat toast, or oatmeal...if I'm up early enough, that is. Heh.
I am with distracted. I love my cup of coffee in the morning and my eggs.

I like eggstarts, 1/4 cup= 1 egg at 30 calories. I usually have 1/2 or 3/4 cup. So let's call it 90 calories. Pico de gallo salsa, 2 tbs= 10 calories. Grated parm cheese, 2 tsp= 20 calories. So you have an awesome omellette at 120 cals! Add a piece of fruit and sometimes half of a wheat english muffin and you are good to go!

I also love light yoplait yogurt with some cereal at about 230 cals.

I make sure to always have protein at breakfast. It keeps me fuller longer and I don't get that early afternoon sugar crash as I used to when I had cereal.
I have exact same breakfast every morning,

a medium size apple, 1 tbsp pb on 2 slices whole wheat bread with reduced fat cheddar cheese, skim milk with 1/2 tbsp honey.  It makes my day!
i always have 1 egg white, 1 whole wheat bread (toasted) with light butter, apple and cinnamon oatmeal, water, and green tea. that's 256 calories.
I hope all these wonderful responces gives you some good ideas, Chip. =]
Just wondering...is it okay to have Kashi Honey Almond Flax bars for breakfast?  I'm a teacher and rarely have time to eat a real breakfast.  I thought they seemed better for me than the luna bars, but luna bars recieve an A and Kashi a B.  Any ideas?

Thanks
I really enjoy the South Beach Diet breakfast burrito southwestern style! It's only 190 calories and really tasty! :)
The responses are GREAT!  I am really excited about getting healthy.  Thanks to all of you for helping me.
1/2 quick oats, plain, prepared with water and very little salt. Sometimes, I have an egg white omlet with light salt and tabasco sauce. Both are under 150 cals.
3/4 c. of Kashi Go Lean Crunch mixed with 1 cup of frozen blueberry, blackberry, and raspberry mix.  It's only 213 calories, 2.25 g of fat, and 12 g of fiber.  I hate milk so I just mix the defrosted berries in with the cereal.  It's yummy.
