what does everyone else put on toast?
I like to have a piece of toast in the mornings, and was just wondering what is good to put on it?
I have been using sugar free jam which is about 30 calories per tbsp, then the regular jam is 50. any other suggestions?

VEGEMITE!! I second it :D
And also that cottee's diet jam. I almost flipped out when I saw it was like 20 cals for 100g! Previously I'd been using the WW stuff which was about 80 cals for 100g. I had to read the label twice to make sure I wasn't misreading it! I haven't even opened the jar yet, but there's no way I'm ever going back to anything else now :D
Also, low fat laughing cow cheese, with some chopped spring onions. Yummy.

~natural peanut butter
~raspberry jam
~ED Smith's Triple Fruits spread with 1/3 more fruit, 1/3 less sugar, no artificial sweeteners(30 calories a tbsp)
~I so badly want to try almond butter, but it's over $10 a small jar where I live and I just can't afford it right now...
first I scrape the burnt off....giggles
I like peanut butter and I know everyone has said that too but man its good
I'm not exactly low cal, but OMG pesto and whole wheat toast is HEAVEN. With a little extra parm chess on top? wk,jgwekjg. oooooo.
I love toast. Some of my favorite toppings that are good for me are:
*lowfat cottage cheese
*lowfat fruit yogurt
*Brewer's yeast
*tuna
Not so good, but still yummy:
*all fruit jam
*cinnamon sugar - I know it is really bad, but somedays you just need some "empty" calories, just be sure to account for them. Eat lots of veggies for lunch.

I recently came up with the idea of putting a Boca or Morningstar veggie burger patty on a piece of toast and topping it with a tablespoon or two of queso dip (a slice of cheese was just too ordinary). Add a tomato slice or lettuce if you want.
OK folks...one more vote for vegemite! Even for a Yank living in the land of Oz...I LOVE it!
I rarely eat toast, but when I do it's with:
1) Peanut butter & banana
2) Butter - less than a pat, but the REAL stuff
3) One slice of american cheese, toasted in the toaster oven to make a "toastee" ... a fraction of the calories of a grilled cheese sandwich but just as yummy
4) Real butter with a drizzle of honey
5) Butter, and then dip the toast into egg yolk...yum
I don't care for jelly or jam on my bread. Haven't had apple butter in years but I did used to love that!! Thanks for the reminder...

Peanut Butter or strawberry jam
I like:
Peanut butter
Cashew Butter
Almond Butter
Apple Butter
Honey & Butter
.... that's a lot of butters.... but you get different fats and proteins from all of them!
note: I don't eat allllll of them together at once... that would be very very special

I like toasted wheat bread...toasted to the point of almost burnt! Then I just sprinkle some "No Salt" salt substitute on it. (I know, it's strange!) My boyfriend laughs at me when I call my toast "big crackers" LOL
Banana slices are good, but hot banana mush is better. Place about 30g banana in bowl in microwave. Bing until soft, mash, re bing (not too much or it shriveels). This is good on crumpets, drizzles with honey or plain.
I also do yogurt/cottage cheese mix and top with mixed berries (i have frozen ones, I defrost overnight) Sooo yummy!! Honey on top is good too.

Anyone who doesn't like artificial sweeteners or other such ick in their jam: Whole Foods 365 brand jams are naturally only 35 cals per Tbsp (because they just use fruit pretty much - no need to sweeten, it's FRUIT after all) and come in black cherry, strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, apricot, and mixed fruits flavors. Reasonably priced too, especially if you're forking out the dough for so-called "healthy" diet jams.
had a scrambled egg this morning on my toast
Fresh fruit
umm...A sort of desserty recipe that is absolutely amazing is to put some butter spray on the toast and sprinkle cinnamon sugar (or I guess cinnamon Splenda if you want to be really healthy) and toast that. Tastes absolutely amazing, though a bit better with real butter/margarine. ^^;;

sugar free jelly
ooh, don't eat Jif, its hydrogenated

vegemite or rasberry jam and butter. If it doesnt taste good then why bother. Make it taste good and enjoy the bites you get, so eat less of the good stuff
Peanut butter or Nutella Hazelnut spread. It tastes like hazelnut chocolate. Mmmm.... hehe
Earth Balance. And this may be weird, but I like plain applesauce on toast too.
mix some splenda and cinnamon and spread some low-cal butter on your toast and sprinkle it over for some cinnamon sugar toast!
