What is everyones calorie range??
I was just wondering what everyone's calorie range is. Thanks :)
Reason: LOCKED: CC's tools are not accurate for under-21's. The bare minimum for a sedentary teenage female is 1500 calories a day, no less. For a sedentary male, 1800. Any posts less than this will be removed. Please abide by CC's guidelines.
Yupp that is what I was looking for =) How tall are you? How much do u weigh... if you don't mind me asking.
im 5'4-5'5, 110 lbs., and eat 1600 cals/day if i dont excercise at all. But i usually excercise a lot and end up eating 1900-2300 cals/day
I'm 5'0, 110, and eat around 1500 calories every day (with exercise). I only burn 1580 when I'm sedentary, so on off days I aim for 1400. Nothing rediculously low. : P
Are all of these ranges to lose weight?
I'm 5'7, 128lbs.
I was eating about 1600 when I was losing more weight but now that I'm closer to 125 I'm eating about 1800 (or try to...today I had excellent tetrazzini :) that went about 300 calories over my limit.) I feel like whenever I eat 1600 that I'm still hungry. Basically I just added a snack to my day that brings me to 1800.
i try to stay between 1500 and 1800.. im 5'7" 230 and trying to drop... oh... at least 70lbs. Its not too hard, i manage it pretty well.. til i want something naughty... mmm... rum n diet (a few ;) ) chinese food.... (mmm orange chicken)... or a steak n potato meal.. but i try to work em in so i dont do too much damage lol
5'0" 161lbs and I try to keep it between 1200-1450
I'm maintaining 120 pounds at 5'4 on 2400-3000 calories a day depending on activity level.
Im 25 5'4" currently at 148lbs trying to get to a toned 130-135 I eat 1300-1600 a day, no lower than 1200

Not at all! I'm 5'1" and weigh 147lbs as of today. My calorie intake is to loose weight.
I'm 5'6/5'7 and 175lbs, my target is ~1900 average a day to lose. I have lots of variety, though, and some days go as low as 1400 and balance it out with days as high as 3000. My average for this month is a little over 1800, I'm losing at about 1lbs a week. :)
I assume one of the mods will be here in a bit to get rid of all the undereating posts. =/
edit: Thought I'd mention, I'm 15 years old.

I think that you have the highest calorie intake level I've seen in people trying to loose weight on here. It's a good thing, mind you. I'm getting so sick of the drastic restriction swarming CC; it's so unhealthy and I'd doubt that many doctors are behind this minuscule intake levels.

Yeah, it bothers me too. I've posted and PMed a lot of people about it, but most of them just don't listen. I probably sound a little preachy when I point it out to them, but I don't think that can be helped. =/
Facts against under eating, specifically in young (<26) women:
It can impede on your ability to have kids, ever.
"Many young women who begin eating a severely restricted diet stop menstruating well before serious weight loss sets in. Since so many people with anorexia are teenage girls and young women, this can have long-term consequences on their ability to bear children." - Anorexia: The Body Neglected, Web MD
Your body adapts when your calories are too low, and won't let you lose.
"Your body wants to maintain your weight when it "thinks" you are starving; therefore, your metabolism will actually slow down. This will inevitably cause you to not lose weight, defeating the purpose of why you cut your calories in the first place!"- Cutting Calories Too Low Can Backfire, About.com
Under eating makes it hard for you to develop the bone mass you'll need for the rest of your life. Severely restricting is anorexic behavior, even if you're not anorexic.
"The body starts to form most of its bone mass before puberty, the beginning of sexual development, building 75 to 85 percent of the skeleton during adolescence. Women reach their peak bone mass by around age 25 to 30" - Bone Builders, U.S. Food and Drug Administration Website
"'There's a narrow window of time to accrue bone mass to last a lifetime,' says Diane Mickley, MD, co-president of the National Eating Disorders Association and the founder and director of the Wilkins Center for Eating Disorders in Greenwich, Conn. 'You're supposed to be pouring in bone, and you're losing it instead.' Such bone loss can set in as soon as six months after anorexic behavior begins, and is one of the most irreversible complications of the disease." - Anorexia: The Body Neglected, Web MD
Weight lost from unreasonably low calorie diets usually comes back.
"People who lose weight quickly by crash dieting or other extreme measures usually gain back all (and often more) of the pounds they lost because they haven't permanently changed their habits. Therefore, the best weight-management strategies are those that you can maintain for a lifetime." - How Can I Lose Weight Safely?, KidsHealth.org
And there's more, but I'm tired.
I'm 6'0", 200 lbs. 14yo male.
I try to stay at 2000. I'm a runner, so I usually end up burning quite a lot.
Most people's totals seem scary low to me, but when I factor in the running, I'm burning upwards of 3000 calories on some days.
Actually today I'm at 1775/3050 so perhaps I should eat a little snack before I go to bed.
5'4, 32 yo, currently in weight loss mode
I eat between 1200 and 1600 cals a day and try to keep the average near 1400.
Well said lynnlette,
It is wierd that people are using this site but totally ignoring the sound advice that is available. Everyone wants to lose 5-6 pounds a week, but it is neither possible or healthy.
My wife was losing that amount per week on one of those chemical shake diets. All well and good but once she stopped it all went straight back on again, as the diet taught her nothing about good eating habits.
When the people who know (Doctors, Nutritionists, etc.) say that a reasonable, healthy weight loss is 1-2 lbs per week, they mean it. Follow the advice, have a reasonable calorie intake and keep a reasonable deficit. Move about a bit to shift a few extra calories and, eventually, you will lose the weight. You will also train your mind and body to have a healthy lifestyle.
Yes, it is hard to realise that you are never going to be allowed more than one cookie or scoop of Ben & Jerry's EVER EVER AGAIN! but that's the max amount our bodies are designed to take!
My stats by the way - 6ft 3 - 266lbs (was 284 a month ago) recommended intake - 2050 cals - I flux between 1800 and 2100 and add jogging and walking in the mix to keep the right deficit. At the moment, I am aiming at the 240 lb mark as a start point and then see where I can go from there.
For all of you who are just trying to do it right. Well Done and Keep It Up!
How can I stop binging after 6 o'clock?
