Evil cereal!

Okay...today I decided to actually measure out the portion of cereal that matches the nutritional contents on the side of the box....

Surprised

It looked like a little spoonful inside our monsterously large bowls....

I sort of thought I was eating maybe twice the portion listed on the box....apparently I have been eating FOUR TIMES the portion.... add the berries and raisins I put in and I have been packing most of my day's calories into a bowl of cereal I normally eat for lunch....

I guess I actually need to count actual calories vs. assumed calories....

Our bowls are apparently family sized vs individual sized...who knew my entire family should be sharing one bowl....(I got them on sale and they are stupidly big...you should see the mugs that came with the set, same thing, probably like 8 cups of coffee in one)....

I guess this explains my weight loss plateau...

Bummer, although I totally understand I was doing the same thing.  Breakfast cereal is my weakness, I'll eat the whole box.  I bought a bowl from target that was smaller then my normal cereal bowls to give me a better idea of what a normal serving looked like, it turned out to be a candy dish (it's looks like a cereal bowl to me) but it's about 3/4 of the size of a normal cereal bowl.  It's really helped alot, that would by my suggestion.

Yea, cereal is just one of those things...

I actually use a scale for mine instead of cups. More accurate.

But the box I have says 11 servings. If you notice it's gone after 3 or 4 servings, that shows that something is up. Lol.

 Well, at least you have it figured out.

i have a major cereal issue as well!!  i started eating my cereal out of cups instead of bowls.  drastically cut my serving sizes down.

As far as I am concerned, the box is a serving.

A box of cereal has never lasted longer than 12 hours at my house. Embarassed

I'm not sure if you are interested in yogurt at all, but I have a cereal suggestion..

For breakfast, I have one of the 80 calorie dannon light and fit yogurts and top it with 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of kashi go lean crunch(between 47 to 90 calories) ... add a banana and a coffee and i have my breakfast for either 250 or 300 calories... and you get your cereal fix.

 

Also works well with dannons low fat yogurt with one splenda mixed in--> depending on whether you like just plain yogurt or flavored kinds that the light and fit versions offer...

 

just a suggestion!

 Me too :( So they are not frequent visitors

Except for allbran original/all bran buds/fiber one original (although im getting more and more skeptical about it cause it keeps dissapearing faster and faster nowadays)

 Good suggestion... Back before I had a weight issue I did eat a yogurt with just a sprinkling of crushed up bran flakes etc. on the top along with some fruit...

I'll give yogurt a try again....
