The Evils of Myspace

Quote  |  Reply

Ok, I am the mother of a sweet 15 yr old girl.  She informed me that someone created a hateful and evil profile of her on myspace.  I checked it out, and was sickened by what I saw and read.  They took a picture of her and drew obscenties all over it.  They wrote unspeakable things about her.  I have been awake since 5 this morning, just sick to my stomach.

My question is....do I have any recourse besides having myspace remove the profile?  I am so mad and just physically sick about it.

Any of you techies have any ideas as to finding out who did this?  Any help or ideas are appreciated.

I was just pointing out this thread was from May.  It's poor forum etiquette to "necro" old and dead (and most of the time rotting) posts.

I clicked on here hoping for an update from Cnjj, but to my dismay the post had been necroed.

Booooo! Boooooo!

Oh, well my fault then. I never even glaced at the original date..   I just say that it had posts on it and thought id join >.<

Whether I'm wrong or not, the important thing is to make sure none hurts/kills himself or herself over this stuff.  That's the point I was trying to make with my first post.

Necroe'd or not this old post jumped out at me. Now that there IS in fact a case of someone killing themselves over this stuff (google Megan Meier or Lori Drew for details), I'm wondering if people still maintain that internet stuff is no big deal?

Surprise!  It is I, arisen from the dead!  I thought I would give everyone a final update.  After the girl was summoned to the police, she and her parents promised to write a letter of apology.  I declined to press charges (wish I had now).  Guess what?  Her parents must be absolutely worthless because we never got a letter.  I would of sat my child down the moment we got home and made her write it.  So sad.  I tried to get the detective involved again, but he blew me off.  I guess he was attending to more important cases involving arsonists and little murderers in the making, so I understand.  I even went so far as to contact myspace and have them ban her.  They contacted the detective and informed me that I would have to go through him again, so the little #&^* is still on there.  I wish I had a happier ending, but the bottom line is hopefully the little *&^% learned her lesson, and my daughter was totally unmoved and unscathed by the whole deal.  It never affected her at all, she just blew it off.  I wish I had her character.

The above poster is right.  There are some fragile people out there who might not have the same attitude.

Hey it's you...

sorry about the invisible apology, you were too nice, it happens.

We need nice people in this world. You know what they say "mean people breed mean children" the brats parents are more than likely where she got he scruples, or lack there of.

Thanks for the update.

Have a great Thanksgiving!
