Olive Garden has lowfat menu options. Eat half your meal, drink water (not soda) and skip the breadsticks. Don't eat the salad (they drench it with dressing-unless you get one without dressing) and minestrone is a vegetable soup with a broth base pretty sure 0 meat in it. Skip the parm cheese although the soup may be a bit salty (most restaurant soups r loaded with salt as preservatives) but you should do just fine. They also have whole - wheat linguini, try that with marinara should work out ok! don't freak out.
Also, don't restrain yourself from cake/etcc... Peer pressure sucks and if your an over-eater you'll give in and sedate yourself with sweets anyway! Might as well figure out an amount to allow yourself and indulge-while being self-aware!!!!
The best low cal stuff they have is soup-- I think the minestrone is the best. about 164 calories a bowl. Watch your bread sticks because they're 140 each and the chicken giardino and linguine alla marinarra have around 550 calories each. Not everything there is terrible-- you can use the search function to look up some other items as well (just search for olive garden or the entree you're interested in.
If you're afraid of overeating make sure you're not hungry- try and eat some healthier options if you can before you get to the cake, it's hard to make good decisions when you're starving and there's literally cake in front of you. Try some fruits and vegetables and/or some filling protein like lean chicken or hard boiled eggs.
Maybe try shopping with your family if they don't mind you tagging along. If it's not expensive I'm sure they wouldn't mind you adding a few things to the cart. Look for fresh fruits and vegetables (like carrots, cucumbers, lettuce, bananas, apples, oranges etc.) or if those are out of season/too pricey look for canned or frozen options( careful not to get anything canned in sugar) canned pineapple and sugarfree apple sauce make great snacks and frozen veggies (especially green beans, snap peas, carrots, peas) reheat well and go good in stir frys.
If you can't persuade them to get different foods, look around your house for some sneaky heathy foods. Canned tuna in water, drained without mayo is pretty low cal. A hard boiled egg is only 80 calories, chicken breast is also pretty low cal as long as it's not deep fried (it's wicked good stir fried in a tiny bit of oil and soy sauce). Check out some of the recipes and the food analyzer to see what food you do have that you can eat.
Good luck, and if you do decide to have that cake, take a slice and walk away. Don't think that everything is "ruined" after, if you think you've wrecked your diet you're more likely to go get another slice.
what is that? it has 0calories... i doubt its food..
thanks guys.... seriously...
and the website's not bad...
which food do you guys think is least diahhrea making? XD
and that one soup sounds realll good

ooo, i remember reading about a super low-cal soup. it was the minestrone soup. it was 160 cals. &um eat the whole plate full of slad. ask for no dressing!
Yep, I second that. It's MIL's favorite place to go for dinner so that's what I get. It is actually an unlimited food meal (called "soup salad and breadsticks") even though that's the last thing you want is UNLIMITED anything. 1. Eat something healthy before you go. 2. Get 1 bowl of minestrone soup and a salad with no dressing (no breadstick) and you are fine! 3. Take a piece of cake. Just eat a few bites. You may find you don't even WANT to finish it! Good luck!
omg I LOVE Olive Garden, my favorite place everrr. I am going there tomorrow for a friends birthday and I already decided to eat super healthy breakfst and lunch so I can splurge on dinner. (I Know thats not really what this post was asking but maybe do the same thing and eat lots of super healthy food during the day!)
Ahh, I used to work at Olive Garden. Good times. Anyway, yes, the minestrone is a very good choice, or if you want to stay away from the pasta entirely, I would suggest just ordering the salad with light italian dressing and a grilled chicken breast to put on top. Or just the grilled chicken breast with a side of vegetables, they'll serve it with cooked squash and zucchini. If you do want a pasta dish, they have a wheat linguini you can substitute.
Oh, and order the lunch portion of an entree if they have it, some dishes do, some don't.
Do you like steamed mussels? That's what I normally get. Everything else is full of EVERYTHING!!! They are on the appetizer menu.
But to be honest. I avoid that restaurant all together because it spells doom for me. The breadsticks! The most fattening salad! The creamy yummy alfredo sauces!!! Ahhh! I can't take it!
I adore Olive Garden. I have to say... if I am going to go there- its a day off the watching what I eat. Because other than taking half my meal home to go- I just dont want to care- its all too good.
So if I go which I try to make it a very, very, very occaisonal thing- I might as well enjoy myself. And go right back to what I know I need to do the next day.
I have a feeling their mussels are covered in butter.
