excessive burping?

Quote  |  Reply

What foods/drinks cause lots of burping?  I'm recovering from anorexia and now that I'm eating again, I swear I'm burping 24/7.  And my stomach is always swollen and in pain.

Any advice?

What you're describing sound like dyspepsia.  Talk to your doctor if it continues as they can prescribe treatments.  As it says in the article

"The usual cause of belching is a distended (inflated) stomach that is caused by swallowed air or gas. The distention of the stomach causes abdominal discomfort, and the belching expels the air and relieves the discomfort. The common reasons for swallowing large amounts of air (aerophagia) or gas are gulping food or drink too rapidly, anxiety, and carbonated beverages."

Eating slowly, avoiding fizzy drinks and trying to relax sound on the cards. You can get over the counter remedies to help as well.  I had a problem with dyspepsia when pregnant and Gaviscon was a life-saver.  Good luck

I had this problem too when i was recovering from anorexia...the problem persist for about nearly a year...my mom used to get annoyed soo much because i burp soo often especially after meals...T-T

however the frequency reduces as your stomach is used to having food in it....

nevertheless if your burping reduces, the gas may find other way to escape from your body.....;-D

Omg this is sooo weird I never ever used to burp and now I do all the time and my parents HATE it....im completely recovered now which is an awesome feeling but its still going on weird ha ha
