Execise on Vacation?

Quote  |  Reply
I'm going to FL over spring break and was wondering how does everyone exercise while on vac. I'm going to be staying with friends that live in FL. So there is no chance of a gym at the hotel seems I'm not going to one. My friends are not in to exercising so no chance of a treadmill. I'm going for nine days which is to long to go without exercise. Is there any thing that is easy to pack and carry in my bag? Please help if you can

can you take walks?  it's free and youd get to enjoy all that warm
weather.  also, you could take those exercise bands (elastic bands
you can use as if lifting weights).  They don't take up much room
in a suit case and they are fairly inexpensive.

The exercise bands are a great idea. You can even get them in varying resistance levels to challenge you as much as you like.
I always exercise on vacation by running or walking.  That's the easiest way.  You can always do abs before bed too!

Agree with the others: walking/running. Sneakers pack easily into your bag and are all you need to run or walk. I find that I sort of feed off non-exercisers when I stay with them, so I'm better off if I get up early and get my butt out. Then then I can be lazy the rest of the day. This only works for the first few days until I get sucked into full vacation mode, and blow it off. Your mileage may vary, use only as directed.

Also, pushups, situps, squats, calf raises, leg lefts, chest lifts, supermans, jumping jacks and other basic exercises are very portable.

The resistance bands work better for some things than others, but are highly portable. I'm a bigger fan of the equipmentless exercises, personally.

I like to check out new areas... like beaches and such by running or walking.  You can see a lot of new areas that way :-)
Do you swim?  If you're near a beach or pool, swimming is a great
way to get excercise.  Only equipment you need is a towel and a
swim suit :-)
Go dancing every night with your Lance Romance!
avanslot...and in some cases you don't even need any equipment for swimming =)
:-)  Well I was trying to be good, but if you've got the right
company and it's nice and dark..... (I'm sure you'd end up burning even
more calories this way too).
You can always bring DVD's to workout with. I live in FL and there is a lot od outdoor activties you can do. even walk the many malls. Good luck. Don't forget to continue to watch what you eat.

See if there is a gym you can walk to near by... I am going to see my boyfriend in Mesa, Az, and there is a YMCA about a mile away. I might even try and convince him to let me take him to the baseball field in the morning, or for him to get a ride w/ one of the other players (hes there for spring training) because I dont like waking in Mesa by myself, even during the day.

They are waveing the $25 sign up fee for me because Im only going to be in the state for a week, and letting me sign up for a student monthly membership for $20 (it would be $10 a day otherwise).. I figure $20 to get to work out every day while im down there (he'll be @ ST from 8-2 every day anyways) for $20 is pretty awesome..

Basically, if there is a gym near you (you can search on Yahoo), call them up and explain your situation. see if you can get any deals like I did :-)
