Exercise after an accident?

Quote  |  Reply
Ok, so I was in a mountian biking accident a few weeks ago and am pretty much healed up.  My shoulder is still sore as well as my knee.  I have heirnated discs in my lower back that have flared up with this all.  Any suggestions on any exercises to relieve the pain/tension and get in some calorie burning so I do not gain the weight I have tried so hard to lose?

That's the kind of injury you should go to a rehab physical theraphist with. There are any number of different exercises that theoretically could help, but you need a professional to look at you, the affected area and determine which one best suits your needs and your injuries.

Swimming can be a low-impact rehab exercise as long as you don't get coach_K-level intense on us, but again, go see a professional before you start anything.

Don't ever train injuries outside of rehab, that's the road to chronic conditions.
Are you going to a physical therapist or been in touch with a dr about your accident?  I would think that would be your best bet to get safe exercises that you can do.  Exercising on injuries can be dangerous...be careful. :-)

I have been to the Dr. several times and they have not said anything about PT.  I guess I better just speak up and ask!
