What exercise burns the most calories?
Can anyone please explain to me what burns the most calories in the gym? I dont have a lot of time to devote in the gym, but I'd obviously (like most people) like to be as effective as possible. What burns the most calories?
Also, when the machines are calculating the amount of calories, are they counting in cals or kilocals?

Interval training blasts a lot of cals. You can do that on any machine. Spin class is also a great calorie blaster.
Jump ropping/skipping rope is really good!
I burns around 700cal per hr which is about 200 cal than what you burn running, swimming or spending an hr in a spin class! Another bonus is that it helps form a nice shilouette/ body line.
I can definitely agree with a previous response. The best way to burn calories is weight lifting. Although this seems unexpected, it really works. I weighed 275 pounds as of October 2008, now in June 2009, i weigh 235 pounds all due to weight lifting. Weight lifting increases muscle mass therefore, increases metabolism. So basically once you've lifted your weights for the day, youre still burning calories with this calorie furnace inside your body. What i did was target working especially on the largest muscles of my body, my leg muscles. This is because larger muscles=more calories burned. Please talk to a trainer so he/she can set you up with the right weight on the machines and everything. Good Luck!
I like the stationary bike, because its low impact and you can read a book, magazine, or watch tv while you do it.
