Exercise causing bruising, maybe?

I wasn't sure if this goes under the health forum or here, so we'll start out here and see if it gets moved or not.

Anyway, I've been increasing my activity to kick my rear in gear (we moved up our wedding date!) and I've been waking up with bruises in the most random places.

Admittedly, I'm a tosser in bed and sleep sandwiched between a cushioned wall and a cushioned boy, but I don't usually wake up full of bruises.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume it's the walking/running that's causing the bruising on my legs, but what's with the bruises on my chest, stomach, upper arms, and neck?  I don't do anything that causes impact aside from nightly pilates to knock my tired arse out, and even then the only thing that's really touching the floor are my knees, feet, and hands.

I have always bruised easily and it can be a lot of things.  It might not be a bad idea to ask your doctor too.  It can be iron definancy.  Careful with Iron suppliments though cause it can cause problems in women to have to much iron.  I always have bruises that I have no idea where they came from....its gets worse every year!!!
Oi, I won't be able to ask a doctor for a few years.  Health insurance is way out of my budget. =(

You should seriously go see a doctor.  I don't want to speculate on what this might be, but you need to have them check out your blood.

You might be surprised to learn that seeing a doctor without using health insurance is still affordable.  Look for docs that don't accept insurance at all.  They usually have more time for patients and will charge close to what a co-pay would be anyway.

Yeeeeah, sixty dollars for the initial check-up, not including tests or assessments, simply does not work for me.  =(  I've got my money budgetted to the dollar until November.

Blehhhhhhhh.  And I make too much to get on state insurance.

Please see a doctor.

I wouldn't be too concerned unless they're really bad bruises and/or the bruising "rate" doesn't decrease, but if you do want to talk to a doctor, see if there are there any free health clinics in your area. Also, if you're in college, it's possible that yours could have a student health clinic or reduced pricing deals or something like that.

Personally, my blood is fine but I'm always finding bruises I can't explain... on the other hand, I'm not the most coordinated person in the world! :)

I too was having problems with bruising...I started taking a vitamin with iron and it stopped.  Maybe your iron is low like mine.  I would say try the vitamins first and if they don't work for you try to find a local health clinic.  The health clinincs here charge $15 a visit.  Or how about one of those "Little Clinics" they just opened in the Kroger stores...they charge $25 for most services.

I have the same problem and my doctor couldn't explain it to me.  All the levels in my blood were fine and I don't have any heart conditions so he just said it was "how you are".  I find that odd though because I was always VERY active as a kid and teen and never got bruises like I do now when I exercise regularly.  I will get them on my thighs, shins, and arms.  Sometimes they are in clusters on my legs and they will be different places each week.  Sucks when you are working out to make yourself look better and instead you look like your being abused!
