Exercise with a cold?

Quote  |  Reply

I have had a cold for a while now and have not been able to shake it... Do I try to exercise?

And If not what about the Eating... When ever I have a cold I seem to want to keep eating? I am never satisfied what is going on with that? What should I eat to satisfy my hunger/cold?

Though I don't have a solid answer for you, I can tell you that I'm in the same situation!  I've been doing light exercise, and find that it actually clears up my congestion a little, and makes me feel a little more revved up.  Also, been sticking to mostly weight training, rather than cardio.  And, when it comes to eating, your body IS expending extra energy to fight the cold -- so don't fret over a couple of hundred calories more than usual.  But I've been feel insatiable, too, and have just kept it to lots of little meals, and LOTS of herbal tea and water, all throughout the day.

 Feel better!

Thanks You too!
I still workout ( cardio) but I cut down my time and resistance. Therefore, I get moving, the blood flowing but without going overbaord ie) sweating excessively. This way my body still has then energy and immuno support to fight off the cold.

Another thing si doing light weights, you can tighten your body and burn some calories without sacraficing your immune system
Light exercise if it doesn't make you feel worse is usually fine and even good when you have a cold.  You do have to listen to your body and make sure that you don't exhaust yourself and drink plenty of liquids and get enough calories so that you can recover from your cold.
I've read articles that show that exercise is actually good for you when you're sick.  Just don't push yourself! When I have a cold, i still try to do my regular routine, but I just don't push myself as hard.  Don't force yourself. I'd say if you're feeling really feverish then you should probably be in bed, resting.  But if you're feeling up to it, exercise.  But make sure you are drinking enough water.
