Should I exercise everyday?

Quote  |  Reply
Hi All, my first time here!  I'm in the UK by the way!  I run 4 times a week (45 mins usually around 5 miles) and I play basic beginners tennis for 1.5 hours on a monday.  Should I exercise every day.  At the moment it's 4-5 days a week but wondered what you guys think?  I work at home but usually do a total houseclean on one of my exercise days off?  Any ideas/suggestions gratefully received!

thanks

Exrcising every day is probably just going to burn you out. Stick to 4-6 days a week :)
I found that if it's something I enjoy (biking in my case) that I could happily do it every day, but I do take a day off.
Hi Clair,

Not to scare you but I exercised a whole lot- everyday and sometimes 2x a day doing cardio, and ended up loosing my boobs and kind of resembling a 12 year old boy. My advice is to do everything in moderation! I was also way under eating too.

Sounds like a good amount to me.  If you really feel like you need to be doing something extra, you could add some light weightlifting into the mix.  The more lean muscle mass you have, the higher your metabolism!
Don't sweat it...have fun and listen to your body.  If your performance starts to decrease or you find yourself becomming ill easily than you need to slow down.  Otherwise...use it or loose it.
LOL edryden you sound like me.   I thought I was the 12year old boy on this site!   Boobs and hips were the first to go, but not due to over exercising!   That's just where the weight decided to come off first!

From what I understand, you're supposed to give yourself at least 1 off day a week.  Think of it as a 'repairs' day.  All in all, I think if you're just sure that your calories spent and your calories consumed are in a good ratio you should be in good shape.
I like Nymo's advice.  I ride a bike, jog or do the elliptical at least once a day because I like it.  As long as you are doing it because you love it and you aren't forcing it, treat it like any other hobby.  Just stretch afterwards, make sure to eat enough and remember to get a rest day in.
