how much exercise do i need to maintain my weight

those of you who are maintining do you exercise everyday or just a few times a week? what does your routine look like?

Well, if you are only taking in 1700 calories, I don't think you would need to go crazy on exercising.  4-5 times a week at 30 minutes of a good workout would be enough.  If you don't have the opportuniy or can't afford to consult with a health-wellness expert, use an online calculator such as on this site to figure out what your Basal Metabolic Rate is.  Then factor in how many calories you would be burning for the exercising you do.  There are many calculators online including this site that will help you estimate how many calories certain exercises burn.  

I am guessing that if you add good exercise to your weekly regimen (4-5 times a week), 1700 calories a day will not be enough to maintain your present weight.  A lot of that will depend on how healthy you are eating, and if you start the day off with a good protein meal. 

Anyway, some of the gals on this site would have to tell you what works for them.  I just think that 1700 calories seems a bit low if you were to get in some good exercise each week. 

If you are currently sedentary, you will need to do about 250 calories worth, if you are lightly active alread, then about sixty will do it, and if your are moderately active you are already there and may even have to eat a bit more to maintain instead of lose.

If you like aerobics, do a 60 minute class 2-3 times a week, some light housework every other day, and go shopping once a week, and you should be hundreds.

We have similar stats. I'm 5'1" and 109-111 pounds. Without exercise I can maintain at around 1500. With exercise I seem to be maintaining at around 1800-2100 depending on what I do that day. My workouts vary from 1 hour per day to as much as 3 on my long run day.

I'm still fairly new to maintenance, only a couple of weeks, so I'm going to need some more time to monitor the weight fluctuations and see what's normal for me. I seem to be consistently bouncing between 109 and 111.

I'd guess that at 1700 you will need some activity like what vejitarian has suggested. Sucks to be short doesn't it?
