Is there a limit on how many calories you can burn a day without it being bad for you. I get laid off in the winter and spent alot of time on Eliptical, treadmill and bike. I didn't see much weight loss and thought that maybe I burned too many calories and my body was storing fat. Maybe I needed to eat more?

Were you going by what the scale said or by how your clothes fit?
I think (key words "I think"; I'm no expert here) that doing tons of exercise in one day is great. But doing tons of exercise every day with no down time for muscle recovery is not good. You're just constantly tearing down your muscles and never giving them the chance to rebuild. Recovery is when your muscles get stronger and healthier.

You must make sure you are only at a 500-800 per day deficit in calories. If you workout a lot, you have to eat more to compensate for what you burn. This may be your problem, you may be forcing yourself in to starvation mode.

is it possible i would like to know too
that is avery good question, i would like to know.
I didn't notice weight loss or how clothes fit. I did have down time. some days I couldnt get motivated. Maybe I just burn more calories at work than I think I do and I'm still burning the same amount of energy as I normaly do.
Also, when you aren't working, how do your eating habits compare to when you are working? Do you eat more maybe, so they extra exercise balances out? Just an idea
It is very possible to work out too much! especially if you're taking in the same calories as if you were sedentary. the more you work out, the more water you need to drink and the more protein you need to eat. Ex : up to two hours of cardio per day, split into two sessions, and about one hour of lifting is the typical workout for a woman competing in bodybuilding/fitness competitions. your best bet is 1 hour cardio tops with weight lifting each day ( working one major muscle group per day), one to two non-consecutuive days off. if you get sore skip strenuous exercise for those parts, and increase your calories slightly.
Yes it is possible, and even has a name! It's called exercise bullemia. Basically this refers to people who work off mor that 50% of the calories they consume in a day by exercising. This, however, is hopefully not what youve been doing. However, you need to make sure you replace some of those calories you work off. Don't consume only 1200 calories if you are working off 600- that puts your net calroeis at 600 for the day! Your body cannot funcion! Instead, eat 1800 or more if you burn 600 at the gym so that your net is 1200 or more.
Good luck and I hope you figure it out!
