Exercise Induced Nausea?
When I am doing cardio exercises I feel okay (just really winded). I really wanted to start incorporating more strength and flexibility routines but lately when I do them I feel really nauseated. I've tried doing some basic yoga which actually feels really great after I do them but I spend most of my time getting over the nausea during the exercising. Any tips?
Some options:
a hard boiled egg
a couple of whole grain crackers & little bit of cheese
a piece of fruit
half a sandwich (ie: bread, turkey, lettuce, tomato)
whole grain English muffin/toast & 1 tbsp of peanut butter

I get nauseated and weak sometimes after working out, but that's only when I haven't eaten enough. So eat eat eat!
Undereating before a workout can definitely be a culprit, but it could also be what you're eating beforehand. If you're already eating an hour or so before working out, and are well-hydrated, try changing what you eat and see if that helps. I can't work out within a couple of hours of eating any kind of yogurt or cheese, even the fat-free kinds - maybe you're eating something that doesn't sit right?
Eating and drinking plenty of water is crutial because when you work out it produces insulin, and it lowers your blood sugar, so the nausea you feel can be the result of your sugars getting to low.
When I was younger and I pushed hard near the end of a run I would get nauseated and in some cases dry heave. I dont any more because prior to my runs I pop a few grapes and grab a cup of coffee. If I run a morning race I eat breakfast a few hours before the race.
For me every time I have gotten nauseated during a workout has been due to not eating enough prior to the workout. I generally like to consume a 200 calorie snack shortly before a workout with a high concentration of carbs in it. Tends to keep me from feeling that way.
Agreed with the eating comments + make sure you're breathing properly while strength training. Some people tend to hold their breathe during reps, which could lead to lightheadedness.
Why do I get bad cramps after I eat?
Suspect lactose intolerance when abdominal cramps are a problem, especially after breakfast when milk products are consumed. Lactose... Read more
