Exercise for the Law of Attraction

Quote  |  Reply
Alright, so we know the Law of Attraction works (see my previous post: "I swear this works: Law of Attraction), but how do we actually apply it to our every day lives?

I find visualization really helps. Start by doing this exercise before you go to sleep and/or when you wake up in the morning, then refer to the image every time you encounter a negative thought about your current state of health/bodyshape:

Envision yourself inhabiting the body you want. Imagine yourself somewhere you love to be, and trully feel the mediterranean sun on your face, your shoulders...how do the clothes you're wearing feel against this body? How does your stomach feel? Stand tall and look at your chosen landscape through the eyes of the body you want.

As you get more comfortable, start to imagine yourself bursting with physical activity. Imagine what it feels like to be exhilerated jogging down a trail in the woods! You're alive! Feel it! Trully FEEL it! Make physical activity enlivening to yourself in your visualisation, and it will start to feel that way when you actually do it!

Next, you can do this visualization while on the treadmill or on the elliptical. Imagine yourself in the body you want instead of feeling terrible about the body you have. The more you imagine it, the more you will become it.

Good luck!

Thank you so much for posting this!  I was just asking kathygator about this earlier today because I want to start doing it...

I have tagged this in case I need to refresh my memory about what I'm supposed to be visualizing....

(Perhaps I should also do a crossword puzzle a day to help out with the short term memory thing)  =)
isn't it hard? I've never realized how many negative thoughts I have about myself and my body until I started trying positive visualizations. I'm amazed at what a vortex of negativity I am!
I tried to do some success visualization this morning on my 2-hour drive to the doctor's.  Realized some things:

When I visualize myself at goal weight, it doesn't take very long at all (maybe 5 seconds) before I either start thinking about something else, especially a problem, or start thinking about having sex in that body, which reminds me of the body I have right now and the sex that I have in it, which isn't as 'whatever' as I want it to be. Thus I am so quickly led back to problems/negative thoughts about myself.

The negative thoughts and problems I expected.  But the sex thing I didn't expect and I wonder if that just means I'm not getting enough.  LOL!

I'm going to try again tonight before I go to bed and I hope that being in a calm, peaceful location (instead of in a moving car in heavy traffic) will help me keep my focus better.  If not, I may record a tape of the visualization I want to do and play it back to help me see my successful self ....  =)

i have always felt fat. ever since I was a kid. I look back at my pictures from then and realized I was fine and wish I weighed that now.

I'm not sure I know how to feel skinny, thin or whatever you call it.  I'm not talking about bony or emaciated.  Just that I am ok about my body and my weight. Because I don't remember ever feeling ok about my body after people started telling me I was fat (pre-puberty).

So how do you fix a broken body image? When your body is fine but your mind hates your body?

I was about 130 and 5' 4", right in a normal bmi and weight range.  I was not underweight and I was not overweight.  So why did people tell me and treat me like I was fat and ugly?
same exact thing happened to me luz...

why?  *shrug*

doesn't really matter why now... just have to make the most of right now because that's all we really have

look at it this way -- your body has done the best it could under the circumstances it has been in....  it has endured abuse, physical and mental, it has endured your hatred and loathing, and maybe that of others too....  and yet, it keeps on going - your lungs keep breathing, your heart keeps beating, your liver keeps removing toxins from what you eat, your kidneys keep filtering your blood and removing wastes

your body does all that for you so that you can fulfill your purpose here

your body does love you even when you haven't loved it or known how to

Isn't it time we show some compassion, some mercy, some love for our poor bodies that we have abused so badly?
Amen, nomo!

That's precisely why we're empowering ourselves; you don't have to be at the mercy of ANYONE else's negative energy. I did it for years and I'm done with it.

It's so interesting...we 'vibrate' at certain levels emotionally, and if we're 'vibrating' negatively, then we will cross paths with people who are at the same 'vibration.' If the first person to tell you you were fat shoved your vibrations down a few notches and lowered you to their own level (where, of course, they felt more comfortable having you), and you decided to stay at that level, you became a moving target for more people just like that at the same level. It happened to me, too. As soon as I started to feel inhibited about my body, I started to get comments.

Let's keep in mind the fact that I was 5'7" and weighed 130lbs with around 16% bodyfat at the time. Those people could sense that I was ill at ease with myself, and they flocked right to me.

Now, I'm ten pounds heavier and at 20% bodyfat, and I feel SO much better about myself, and I don't get any comments. In fact, if anything, I get more positive comments.

I use energy terminology, but it's really simple psychology. If unstable or negative people sense weakness, they attack. And the more of a victim you become, the more attackers you attract.

Good luck, I know it's difficult!
I woke up early this morning and did a 10-minute meditation (used a Wayne Dyer cd that uses Japa to help still your mind) and after that I tried the visualization thing again.

It went much better this time.  I saw myself running and tried to feel what that felt like too.  And then I saw myself biking up a hill and not getting out of breath.  I kept alternating between the running and the biking.  Felt good!

That was much more effective than picturing myself just standing there being thin.  =)

Think I will do the meditation followed by visualization again - seems to be a good technique.
I just posted my process in my journal. I did it this morning, but focused on erasing the pain from my body. I definately felt better, but realized I have been storing up way too much negativity in my body. I have a lot of work to do inside my mind!
Dude, you guys rock! I'm so happy people are actually DOING this.

I did the meditation this morning when I was on the elliptical/treadmill. Every time I started to think 'dammit, I want to go back to bed,' I pushed the thought out of my head as fast as I could and thought 'I feel alive, I feel exhilerated...I'm one of those people who LIKES exercise.'

And it worked!
Glad you brought this topic up....I am a firm believer in the Law of Attraction...have any of you seen the movie - The Secret?

If not, I highly recommend it! It is all about the Law of Attraction & the power of positive thinking. I got mine off Amazon & it was like $25.00 - definitely worth the money.

The movie interviews various "teachers" of the law of attraction. This includes proffesionals in quantum physics, metaphysics, theology, philosophy & medicine.

I also love it, because it talks about historical figures who knew how to make the law of attraction work for them, individuals such as Aristotle, Plato, Newton, Edison, Einstein & more. Highly recommend this movie if you are interested in learning more about the Law of Attraction!

I haven't seen it - I heard Jack Canfield talking about it on Oprah's XM channel the other day.

I will check it out!  Thanks for the tip  :)
I wonder if I keep imaging myself with a rich, hot husband if I get that ball rolling too.
LoL, Shill!
I have watched that movie. I am a huge believer in negativity begats negativity! I try to always be positive and up beat, I like myself better that way. You never realize how negative you are until you focus on being positive! It's funny, I actually wrote in my journal today that I need to focus on positivity more. I was sinking into negativity again. I also use this while I'm on the treadmill, I just zone out : ) it really helps!
thanks shakti...this is just what i needed today.

i had planned out my food for the day...and even tho had a ton of calories to spare (i burned about 3000 in total and hadnt eaten more than about 800 till i got home)...i attacked the food like it was the last meal i would ever eat. everything i have here is healthy healthy stuff (well 99% of it, as it is not only me living here and i cant control what my mother eats lol).

so i felt like i was/am having a binge.

although i couldn't possibly do enough damage to NOT have a defecit lol. filling 3000 cals would be tough haha. even 2000 is tough for me.

but i didnt wanna feel bad and i was starting to...so thanks :)
I'm glad it helps, pink.

You know, guys, this has really been working for me because I've been applying it EVERYwhere. Like with food cravings, for example. I just knock them out of my head and start thinking about how good I feel without whatever it is.

(I also want to bump this up because I reccomended it to someone on a post and don't know how to include the link to this there hehe)
Oh and PS just so everyone knows I put 'mediterranean sun' on there because originally I had written this with Italy in mind, then I went back and changed it so it could be anywhere...I guess I forgot that part lol
the first time I tried to do intervals on the treadmill, I pretended that I was the Bionic Woman, and I was running in slow motion, I really zoned into my breathing and felt all of my muscles working.  It sounds so immature-maybe even a bit crazy, but it helps me to have a positive attitude and to keep on going...Maybe you can pretend you are a super hero too.
I've done my visualization for 8 days in a row now and I think it's getting a little easier but not as easy as I expected it to be...

Still, I look forward to doing it now...
